Factoring software, Amiibo etc. Then, tho not technically WiiU, ports to the Switch somewhat should be counted, at least in that they were leveraged and able to be used for an easier sell with much larger install base and much less effort to Port.... How much did they spend developing the WiiU?

It may not have reached the sales Nintendo had hoped for but when people say it bombed, flopped, tanked or talk like it's the worst home console in history i just wanna strangle them. Clearly they weren't there for Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, Atari Jaquar, virtual boy or any other such systems.

Wii U despite it's shortcoming still hung in there and it lasted about as long as Gamecube. If it was discontinued as fast as virtual boy then yeah that's a flop.

There is definitely a soft spot in my heart for the WiiU. Obviously some very solid games, the prototype for the Switch and as I mentioned, even games that were salvaged as far as sales.

Even at a modest profit of $20, plusI think 60 million in sales....that’s going to cover the cost of developing the console, especially with the way Nintendo makes more on its own software and takes a cut of third party devs. Throw in controllers, amiibo.... long term u have to view the WiiU has a positive thing for Nintendo, in spite of its shortcomings.
