@Oragami Enough to keep going with the Wii U and keep taking risks? Maybe. If we see the next Assassin's Creed and COD on Wii U, then that pretty much answers that question. And I think you're right, I may add.
The problem is that both Assassin's Creed and COD had previous games on the Wii U that used the same engine, and that engine was relatively easier to port to Wii U since it was made to perform on tech made in 2005. That isn't the same case with Final Fantasy XV. It would cost way more money to port it over than those two game.
In other words, yeah, they can profit, but that is because Ubisoft and Activision have already dumped money into the Wii U. So long as they retain their engines, they wouldn't need to sell many copies to turn a profit.

@Oragami: I think you're a bit confused as to what "demand" is. 1-2 people does not equal demand. Petitions don't mean anything as 1 signature =/= 1 sale.
Here are the facts:
1. There are not many (if any) big JRPGs on the Wii U
2. There are more JRPGs on Sony's systems
3. The Wii U has had poor sales compared to the PS4 on average

Sales are often higher than the amount of signatures a petition may get. Take Operation Rainfall. I never supported it, and yet I bought Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower. Sales were quite high for being released so late in the Wii's life. Now onto your points.
1. The lack of JRPGs on the Wii U means there is a natural demand for them. All Wii U owners who are JRPG fans are hungry for a JRPG.
2. That doesn't matter, as the market for FFXV on the Wii U is independent from the market on the PS4. In other words, they can coexist and both be successful, as People who own a PS4 or Xbox One will buy one of those versions, but the people who own only a Wii U who want the game will buy the Wii U version.
3. The Wii U has sold over 4 million units. That is enough to justify a port.

I'd ask SCAR392 for the specifics, but I believe that FFXV isn't being designed around any single console, it's being designed around some DX11 which allows for easy porting or something. Again, I'm not an expert on exact specs or whatever.

@Oragami How many of the those people will or already own a PS4 though? The lack of a JRPGs might also indicate of lack of a market, it also means that people interested might just go buy another system that actually has a JRPGs instead. 4 million consoles does not justify a port if the costs to port are high, and the demand is not high enough.

1. How many people other than you are a JRPG fan AND own a Wii U? A lack of games does not equal demand.
2. Yes it does. Why would JRPG fans buy a Wii U for a JRPG when there are none? Playstation has historically been the platform for most JRPGs and therefore JRPG fans will buy a PS4 (or PS3) over a Wii U if they want JRPGs
3. Again, how many are JRPG fans?
Your logic skips so many steps in many processes.

I hate to see Oragami run any kind of business, it would be dead within a month. 4 million consoles ISN'T enough to justify a port of Final Fantasy XV even IF it could be done. And I can assure you that a decent chunk of those 4 million Wii U console owners are going to also have a PS4 and/or Xbox One (I own a Wii U and Xbox One, and I'll probably buy a PS4 this year). Not to mention a probably good chunk of those 4 million aren't even JRPG and/or Final Fantasy fans. So probably way less than 4 million potential buyers (probably 1 to 2 million at the most) isn't going to cover the cost of porting a game that probably took tons of cash to develop just for the PS4 and Xbox One. This isn't an indie or low-budget game. Square Enix is about profit, and the profit is just not worth it for a Wii U version.
Ask for something that makes sense like a new installment of the Crystal Chronicles series or some third party exclusive. Don't keep asking and harping on something that's NEVER going to happen. If you disagree, then why don't you ask Square Enix about it? I'm sure they would love you and Scar since both of you clearly know more than them.
If you want the game that badly, then buy a PS4 or Xbox One. But you clearly don't really want it. It sounds like you're trying to prove something, so stop it because it's not going anywhere.
I'll admit that considering FFXV has been in development for 7 years now, it probably isn't ever gonna turn a profit, but at this point it's probably not a good idea to dump even more money into this one game.

Just look at my profit argument above, and see if you agree. The only way I see it not turning a profit on a Wii U is if the game is really bad.

@CanisWolfred Square Enix shoulda just released it when it was a PS3 exclusive. I dunno why Tetsuya Nomura kept pushing it back and back... maybe he claims his vision can only be achieved on next gen hardware or maybe Sony kindly asked them to wait until the PS4 came or just who freaking knows. The game prolly woulda made some serious cash back when it was a PS3 exclusive. It had tons of hype a long time ago.
Let's say that 1 million of the 4 million Wii U owners own another 8th generation console. That leaves 3 million Wii U exclusive owners. And let's say a sixth of those Wii U owners like RPGs. That's 500,000 people. Now let's say 3/5 of them buy FFXV. That's 300,000 units sold. Multiply that by $50, and Square-Enix has made $15,000,000 in revenue. At most it costs $25 to produce the disc, and there's $7,500,000 in current profit. Let's say it costs $1,500,000 to port, so Square Enix has made $6,000,000 in profit by simply porting a game. Those are very generous numbers, and the profit is probably greater.
This is assuming far too much. You don't know what the budgets are. You also ignore the retailers' cut of the profit.
1. Assuming I am the only person who owns a Wi U and likes JRPGs is ridiculous.
2. They don't buy the Wii U for JRPGs, they buy a Wii U for games in general. I have never purchased a console for a specific genre, and neither has anyone I have ever met.
3. As stated above, let's say 500,000
1. I didn't say that. I just said it's more likely you're one of a few
2. Just because YOU don't know anyone doesn't mean they don't exist. There are gamers who buy specific genres.
3. Why? Just because you think there's that many?
In order to run a business, you have to take risks to make profit, and porting FFXV to the Wii U wouldn't even be that risky. It is an easy profit. Learn your capitalism, Knux. Many of your points I covered above.
How doesn't Final Fantasy XV on the Wii U make sense? There were NUMBERED Final Fantasy games on Nintendo systems LAST GENERATION. That means THERE IS A MARKET! Saying it will never happen is simple negativity without justification. And if SCAR and I did work for Square-Enix, maybe they wouldn't tick off their fans every month.
You don't have to take risks to make a profit. Also, taking risks never guarantees profit anyway. How is porting a Wii U game an "easy profit"?
This is a load of BS because none of those were on the Wii. The last new numbered game was VI on the SNES. Not to mention remakes were only on the DS, which was a hugely popular system in Japan and America. Here's my justification: All numbered FF games after VI are NOT on Nintendo systems.
Saying I don't want FFXV is asinine. I just don't want to waste money on a new console. You're right, I am trying to prove something. I'm trying to prove that FFXV on the Wii U is possible, and there have only been like 2 or 3 decent arguments against it. Mostly just stubborn people talking with no proof.
We're not saying that at all. We're saying there's not enough demand for Square Enix to care. You're not really proving anything. You only made assumptions and treat them like facts.

Guys, I'm sorry, buy PlayStation 4's. I came to this conclusion long ago. The Wii U is not powerful or even remotely comparable hardware and architecture-wise with the new HD twins....and this time Sony and MS aren't even making massive losses on their consoles (MS is reportedly not making any at all.) Nintendo could easily have gotten back into the hardware race and tried to heal third party relations. They didn't, and problems that have been around since the NES reared their ugly head this gen.
Easy dev tools, low royalties, and a welcoming sales environment will attract third parties, nothing else.
Square Enix even jumped to Microsoft for Final Fantasy last gen because Microsoft (possibly offered money) had a very competitive console (similar IMB CPU, almost Cell-lite, and a better GPU than PS3.)
And nobody's even really sure about MS offering money, and they definitely did not have to for the two sequels... (which unlike XIII, also came out for 360 in Japan too), because there was money to be made. You know why id didn't come to Wii (minus quick Crystal Chronicles sequels?) It'd have to be retooled entirely and at that point might as well have come out on PS2 as well.
Also are Nintendo's royalty rates still higher than Sony and possibly Microsoft and Apple?
3rd parties supporting Xbox One and PS4, day 1 = sales void
DX11 features being possible on Wii U = specs void
^REAL^
Someone shoulg go ask SE why it won't come to Wii U, because I can't find any articles that say it's about any of the reasons you guys are saying(sales, specs).

What...? Consoles have to start at zero sales, it's the way they work. Third parties can be confident their titles will always sell well brand new on Sony and Microsoft consoles, which have either outsold or are very close to outselling Wii U already by the way.

It does not work that way SCAR and you know it.
Ya, consoles start at 0, but 3rd parties haven't put a single 8th gen game out for Wii U, when it had 4 million more sales.
In this case, having a DX11 equivalent DOES void out specs. Why do you think I do not PC game?

You are right on the retailer getting a cut, that was my mistake. But it turns out producing the discs is far cheaper than I thought. A blank Blu-Ray disc goes for $2 at retail, so I'll be generous in saying it costs $10 to make A Wii U game disc with a game on it. That's now $8,500,000 in profit according to my cart, but if you want to say it's wrong, lets cut out say $2 million. That's still $6,500,000 in pure profit, which I still think is low. EDIT: Lower than it actually is.

2. They don't buy the Wii U for JRPGs, they buy a Wii U for games in general. I have never purchased a console for a specific genre, and neither has anyone I have ever met.

1. Again, look at my projections and maybe take away about 50,000 so it's about 450,000 Wii U owners that like RPGs and I think that's reasonable.
2. I feel that is a minority. Game consoles are expensive, and unless you are interested in a wide variety of games on a console, you most likely aren't going to buy it. Especially a $400 or so console.
3. My math seemed very reasonable to me.
In order to run a business, you have to take risks to make profit, and porting FFXV to the Wii U wouldn't even be that risky. It is an easy profit. Learn your capitalism, Knux. Many of your points I covered above.

Taking risks is almost essential to making profit. Look at John Rockefeller or Andrew Carnegie. Two huge risk-takers, and two of the richest people to ever live. Risks never guarantee profit, but profit always guarantees risk. Risk is hoe Final Fantasy was born. Square took a risk and made an RPG, and it paid off. SCAR392 already explained how easy it would be to port FFXV to the Wii U.
It doesn't matter that none of the main series Final Fantasy games were on the Wii (although 1, IV, and VI were on the Virtual Console) because the DS games still created a tangible Final Fantasy on Nintendo Market. Most Nintendo fans had a DS, and most Nintendo fans have or are getting a Wii U. Sure, a lot of non-Nintendo fans had a DS, but that's not the market I'm focusing on.
Saying I don't want FFXV is asinine. I just don't want to waste money on a new console. You're right, I am trying to prove something. Knux said those exact words. And I am providing a mixture of facts and reasonable assumptions.
I hate to say it, but this is a pipe dream. If you want to play the big next-gen third-party games you're going to have to shell out the cash for a PS4 or XB1.

Hell yes I do. But there's no reason to think it'll happen, and if somehow it did happen I don't think it would necessarily be what we all want it to be. Devs can't even get last-gen ports to run up to par on the Wii U — I shudder to think of how a PS4 port would turn out.
