Kinda rude to laugh but he kind of has a point. M-rated multiplats have bombed on the Wii U, so there probably isn't really an audience for the game on Wii U.

I would, I will be purchasing it for PC most likely but i find it funny considering the same people who purchase the Wii U also like Monster Hunter which is arguably where this genera has derived from with Dark Souls just being the hardest.

Dark Souls isn't really anything like Monster Hunter, though, gameplaywise.

Its the same concept/genera , just a different execution

You'll have to explain that one, seeing as one is an Action RPG with lite Rogue-like elements, while the other is an Action game with lite RPG elemnents. One is about learning from your mistakes through repeated death, and taking your time to cautiously progress through non-linear levels in a grand quest to learn the truth of the world. The other is about mastering an obtuse control system and getting stronger through collecting items obtain through various hunts through largely linear and static levels, mostly so you can fight bigger foes and make better armor from those foes.

I would really like to know where the similarities are.

Out of that whole list the only real difference you presented was setting and different levels of RPGness, the rest is really just semantics. Obviously they are different games but they are easily cut from the same cloth they simply just focus on different aspects. I am curious what you would compare Dark Souls to? It hardly fits any other game that well out there.

I would hardly call those semantics...as for what I would compare it to, the first thing that comes to mind would be King's Field, which Dark Souls borrows heavily from.

From what i can tell from the video i saw, it borrows exactly from the opposite end.of the spectrum being the atmosphere . You can see where the setting, pacing, and general feel of the game comes from but beyond that it runs dry. Seriously if you took Kingfield and it had a baby with Monster Hunter you would end up with Dark Souls.

....I'm not gonna argue this anymore. I've played those games. I know they're different. I play them for different reasons, I require a different mindset in order to enjoy them. Nothing about them is really that similar. I'm sorry that I'm not doing a good job of conveying those differences, but I'm telling you: You would know them if you played them.

I wouldn't buy any Dark Souls game on any system. Heck, I wouldn't play the game if they paid me to. One bout of self-inflicted pain for me was more than enough.

Except for that one RPG they released for the Gamecube (the name of which escapes me)

Lost Kingdoms 1 & 2.

Great games that deserve a chance to be remade for either the 3DS or Wii U imo.

The Wii U market is a far cry from those on the PS3/360 or PS4/One. If you consider the fact that the Wii was a family console, I can see why developers would be wary of launching such a hard, non-family-friendly game on it. My advice would be don't until the Wii U has established what games it's owners want.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

Not really surprising, I don't care about Dark Souls though so no biggie.

I actually didn't enjoy it took much on 360, so I'm not upset.

I would have laughed as well

Those games appeal to a small audience on other systems. That audience is virtually nonexistent on the Nintendo-only demographic.

He's got a point, but unfortunately for him part of it is that Dark Souls is almost a niche audience on other platforms as well. The game would barely sell anything on Wii U. A niche of a niche.

That said I've always thought these games are overrated. Also, give me a pause button and not make me wait to get revived by other people online who may or may not appear...

Just curious, have you actually played the game? I never once played the game connected to the internet so I never had to wait for people to revive me, yeah, you'll be hollow, but who cares? You can reverse it if you really need too. As far as pausing goes.. you can just press the menu button on your controller (IE: Home button on Wii U). I can understand you thinking it's overrated because everybody thinks that about certain games, people do tend to rave about this game.. me being one of them. I'm a bit masochistic when it comes to games though and this series scratches that itch.

Yes I did, the PC version that had to be modded to run above 720p/30 fps like on console. That was the start of my problems with it.

I'm fine with these comments though I just don't like the series.

^Ahh, I gotcha. Sounds like they did a pretty crappy PC port. Not that it really changes the game so I won't even suggest trying to console version.. well, maybe Demon Souls.

Anyways, to each their own, at least you gave it a shot.

No you can't, not on PS3 anyways. It brings up the XMB but the game will still run .

Hmm.. well, I played it on Xbox and Demon Souls on PS3.. but I thought for sure I paused that way. Maybe because I wasn't connected to the internet? I don't know why that would make a difference. Maybe I thought it paused but it didn't and I'm just a lucky idiot. :/

I wouldn't mind it. The game really isn't my cup of tea, got it for $5 on XBL and really haven't touched it since. Its a crazy good game for what it is. I'm more of a Dragon's Dogma kind of man myself.

I hear the team who worked on Demon/Dark souls is cooking up another game for Sony while the other guys make DSII. Its one of a few RPGS sony has in the oven.

WAT!

It's a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy I think. Developers don't make these games for Nintendo's platforms because they're worried they won't sell and so none of the people who are interested in those sort of games buy Nintendo's platforms. Then when someone does make one nobody buys it because the people who would have didn't buy Nintendo's console.

All of this started back on the N64 when the cost for development on the Playstation was drastically cheaper. Since then Nintendo hasn't really had the same sort of third party support they once did and people who buy their consoles are mostly interested in first party content. Then it's just a vicious cycle.

I really do think that if someone did take the risk with the right game they would be rewarded. We'll wait and see how Bayonetta 2 goes I guess...... not sure if that's the "right" game but we'll see....
