MK 8 is not 1080p I think. All the screens I've seen were 720p.

The game retains 1080p during 3, and 4-player split screen, but will be slowed down to 30 fps.[1]
I do. MK8 is so over-hyped on this forum, it's ridiculous.
It has the potential to being a game that I play for years. That is reason enough to be excited. Heck I'm still playing mkwii and that wasn't even a particularly good Mario kart game

It's only the newest, most advanced iteration in the best, most popular series of arcade racing games. Hell, the "arcade" qualifier isn't even necessary. There are no other racing games so widely beloved, that consistently deliver each and every generation.
You don't have to be hyped, but a love of Mario Kart transcends this gaming hobby. It's probably worth appreciating that fact.
