"Melting Sonic"? Checking GameFAQs it would seem Sonic 2 had the same box in all regions except Japan.
Sonic 1, the US had a different Sonic than other regions.
Sonic was redesigned to appeal to the American crowd when he was carried over. They got rid of the soft colors, gave him a mohawk, and made him look like he was trying to hard to be badass. In short, it ain't pretty.
Sonic stayed the same in Europe and Japan....for some reason.
Found a model 2 Genesis CIB with Sonic 2 at an antique store for $18. Will make 3 Genesis that I own now but CIB at that price is something I can't pass up. Guy also got a bunch of Genesis, NES, SNES, N64, and Saturn games as well. Said he will call me as soon as he gets them in inventory and priced. Told him I will buy most of them up because I assume they will be dirt cheap with the way he priced a CIB console.
He also has CIB Super Scope I am debating about driving back to get. Wants $8 for it.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
Wii U online games:
Injustice Gods Among Us, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razors Edge, Assassin's Creed III, Tekken Tag Team Tournament 2 Wii U Edition and Trine 2: Directors Cut
3DS Online games:
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Tell me if you want to play :)
Separately ordered an Aahhh!! Real Monsters SNES manual and cart.
Bought a listing that (at least from the photo) seems to be a non-Majesco manual. The cart, less concerned.
Why a Nick-based game? Not enough Lost Vikings ripoffs.
Played it once as a kid, kind of enjoyed it. Want to try again.
And I remember Rocko's Modern Life being a surprisingly decent platform/puzzle game. Just way too short that even when I was about 10, I thought my parents got scammed a bit when they paid $55 for my original copy.
Last night I got the Dragon Quest spin-off and the father of the Mystery Dungeon series: Torneko no Daibōken: Fushigi no Dungeon for the Super Famicom. So far I think it's good.
I'm not sure if this counts because I got it on 3DS Virtual Console and not the actual cart but I got Mega Man 2. Great game.
Games I'm playing currently: Legend of Zelda: A Link Betweeen Worlds, Tearaway
Games I'm excited for: Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. 4, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8
