I need to update my BL with games that I don't have so I can make some friends 'round here.
I am genuinely confused as Ive never even heard of this backlog site or whatever. Do people use it just to keep track for themselves, or is it more along the lines of "look at me and my backlog" sort of thing? Im only asking because I find it hard to believe people need a website to keep their backlog in check.

It's there to keep track, but a lot of people use it to socialize. Some people use it to show off, but I don't think it's very good for that.
And some people have found it very helpful. I think once your :U:'s get over 30, it's easy to lose track of what you still have to finish. Having an organized list helps you prioritize, and by making it public, adds an extra layer of commitment.

I appreciate the info. I know people use sites and apps to keep track of their collections but never realized(due to my own ignorance) they did the same with backlogs.
@Knux BL doesn't really prove anything. Anybody could type in whatever game and say that they own it, even if they don't.
If I was lying, then I wouldn't even have a BL. There's way too much work involved constantly adding games and keeping track of which ones I haven't played or beaten. I have been gaming since I was four or five years old and also have a busy life. It's much quicker buying games than beating them, so having a collection like mine can become reality for anyone.
There's nothing to brag about having a collection this huge either. I'm constantly having to juggle games while figuring out what to play next. I'll probably never be able to play games without juggling again. It's gotten bad enough to where I'm considering holding off on jumping to the next generation whenever it begins. I'll probably buy a PS4 and perhaps a gaming PC, but that may be my last gaming hardware purchases for quite awhile. And of course, there's the vast world of retro gaming. If I were to stop buying games right now, it would probably take me five to ten years completing every single game I own (and that's if real life wasn't there to hinder me). So yeah, having this many games is both a blessing and a curse. I really have nothing to gain from lying about this, and could care less if you believe me or not.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go play (and probably buy) more games.
