Wall jumping. Why did they have to make it so difficult?

It's possibly the only flaw (a major one at that) in an otherwise excellent game.
It's frustrating and finding it impossible to get right consistently.

Began playing it on Switch yesterday for the first time in a long time. I'm using the pro controller and while using the d-pad makes it slightly easier to pull off the odd wall jump, it seems impossible to do in a sequence.

Never beaten the game before and that's what I set out to do this time around. But if I don't get the hang of wall jumping soon then Super Metroid ain't getting any more of my time..

@Tendo64 Yep that was the one flaw with that game. There are so many other games out there that have a great walljump, Batman NES, Ninja Garden NES to name a couple that it makes me wonder why they just didn't copy one of them.

It may have been a design choice. They didn't want you to perform it accidentally. They wanted to teach it to you, only for you to discover that you always had that ability. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.

I don't find it that hard once you get the hang of it. The window is much tighter than in most games and the timing is bit different. Wait just a little longer before hitting jump.

Do you even need to wall jump to beat the game? Other than maybe the section that teaches it to you? It's been a while since I last played Super Metroid. It's far from essential skill at the very least. As long as you can make out of the wall jump tutorial hole, you should be fine.

It's its, not it's.

I feel the same way, why can't Metroid crawl? ;p

Alright, I gotta stop getting into arguments with jump. Someone remind me next time.
