Please help, bought a n64 to relive my youth. Really blurry pic. Using a rf to hdmi lead not the one that came with it, the red yellow white one ( sorry don't know names ) spoke to shop I got it from they said it my telly. Surely people are gaming on n64s with modern tellys. Don't know what else to try bought 3 lots of converters still not working. All I want is to play banjo kazooie again lol
@Goinmad Yeah unfortunately alot of the old consoles arent designed for these newer tvs so you will run into problems hooking it up to a newer tv even with an adapter. While there are adapters and other devices out there that will recreate the look of the game on a modern tv they are going to cost you an few hundred dollars. So with that said the cheapest way to play Banjo Kazooie would be
A) Find a CRT. This can be somewhat difficult nowadays because the last CRTs were made well over 20 years ago and then if you do find one who knows how.well it will work. You can still find CRTs out there, the best places to find one are Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. Flea Markets, thrift stores, and garage sales.
B) Banjo-Kazooie has been released for modern consoles including the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S through Rare Replay. You can usually find copies of this fairly cheap at places like Gamestop, and other Used game stores, flea markets or places like Ebay or even Amazon. I got my copy for $10 at a used game store a few years ago. It also was released on the Switch and Switch 2 as part of Nintendo Switch Online service through their N64 games where you can pay a fee for Nintendo's online service and get a bunch of old Nintendo games.
C) You can get an N64 clone machine such as the Analogue 3D https://www.analogue.co/3d
Which is an FPGA console designed to run all N64 games on a modern tv. This is going to cost a bit more then the previous 2 options but is probably the best if you want that original hardware feel or want to play the original cartridge thats quick and easy. Literally all you do is unpack it plug in an HDMI cable to the console and then your tv and you are good to go. I have the the SNES version of this and love it. Its how I play all my SNES games now and and they always look good on a modern tv.
D) There are places on the internet that you can find ways to play N64 games that unfortunately we cant discuss here. This is probably of course the cheapest option but the most risky way and problems can arise if you dont know what you are doing or go to the wrong places. I don't really suggest that but its an option.
Anyway there are a few easier options to play classic games in this day and age besides using and older console that quite wont look right on a modern tv. Good luck to you and happy gaming.
