I'm trying to find a good gamecube controller and the official ones are a tad more than I'm willing to spend. Most on ebay seem to be around 50 dollars or more. Yikes! I bought some generic one once and after 1 playthrough of Luigi's Mansion the stick fell apart. It was all loose and basically worthless. Any suggestions for good affordable third party controllers? Help a Gamecube fan out!

Yeah I'm also on the lookout for one. I wish 8bitdo did a receiver for the gamecube.

Curious, are the modern Smash Bros. controllers backwards compatible with an actual GameCube?

I had assumed since they're designed for the same port as vintage controllers but want to know if I'm wrong.

@Wargoose the wavebird works great as a gamecube controller so I doubt 8bitdo will make one

You should just bite the bullet and buy a good condition used Nintendo controller. In the UK you can get perfectly acceptable black and indigo controllers for around £20, sometimes less. Source: I've bought about 10 Nintendo GameCube controllers in the last 3 years.

@1UP_MARIO
I thought about getting one of those smash bros controllers. Are they cheaper than the original ones?

@Zeldafan79 they are pricier. Best bet is getting a used Nintendo one from eBay
