Topic: Is it possible to run Super Game Boy on Gamecube?

I am aware of how stupid this question sounds but I would very much want to run SGB on GC so I can play my original GB games with custom color palettes and borders.

Is there a way to connect the Super Game Boy to the Gamecube or is there some ROM that I can download to my GC and have it interact with my Game Boy Player?

There is no way to play your Super Game Boy on a Gamecube @John_Koshiro ,sorry. There is an attachment that hooks up to the Gamecube that lets you play Gameboy & Gameboy advance games but there isn't a way to use the SNES Super Game Boy and Gamecube together(at least that i know of).

@CurryPowderKeg79 Are you familiar with a person or group that does console mods because I think it would be somehow possible to make the two compatible. I was thinking that maybe somebody could make some kind of an adapter and plug it into a GB Player (This is how it would work in my ignorant mind, "GB game --> SGB --> hypothetical SNES-to-GB adapter --> GB Player").

If people can make a Genesis-to-SNES adapter, then doesn't a SNES-to-GB adapter have a chance of being feasible?

I know what I said sounds convoluted (and a bit insane) so, as an alternative, I also would accept links to a homebrew GB Player UI that recreates various elements of the SGB.

@John_Koshiro I'm sure someone could custom build something to accomplish this task, but the question is, why would you want to jump through hoops like this when the Gamecube already has the means to play Game Boy and GBA games?

@Heavyarms55 I don't really mind. I have a GB Player but it has lacks the features that made SGB fun by excluding custom color palettes/borders.

@John_Koshiro There are 3rd party homebrew versions of the OS for the Game Boy player that can replicate that. But if you really want to just use the Super Game Boy cartridge, why not just use it on a SNES? There are HDMI upscalers you can get if you don't have an older TV. Or you could get one of the clone systems that play SNES games like the Analogue Super NT (I think that's the right name) that play original cartridges, support original controllers but also work perfectly on modern TVs.

Is there some specific reason you want to use this extremely specific Super Game Boy -> Gamecube method?

@Heavyarms55 I guess I don't feel like getting an SNES or a clone console since I already own the mini, I pay for Switch Online and it would be just another thing I have to store and manage. I would like to use one console to play GB games.

Plus, I figure one of the options I mentioned would be cheaper overall. I suppose the only other reason why I want it this way is because I'm just the kind of person that would take the weird route.

Can you direct to me to a homebrew Game Boy Player OS that has the features of the SGB? I looked online several times and I haven't found any that mention having such traits.

@John_Koshiro I believe sharing links to modding info is not permitted on this site. But you can find it easily enough by searching "gamecube game boy player homebrew"

I kinda assumed you had the SNES already, as well as the Super Game Boy. If you mentioned otherwise, sorry, I only skimmed the other comments.

Super Game Boy uses actual Game Boy chips but it also allows GB games to access the SNES memory (such as the western version of Space Invaders which can load and run a SNES version, that I'm not how much is different from the actual SNES cart version).
I've heard Animaniacs, and a Japanese license game (Pokonyan, was it called?) have an entire alternate soundtrack for the SGB.
So full support of SGB would require a SNES emulator being somewhere in there.

@Heavyarms55 I checked a few times for mods like that but not under that phrase. Thanks for the help.

I use to have an SNES but my brother ending up taking that with him and he just happened to leave the SGB behind. I got to keep our GB collection so it kinda bugs me that I can't get any use out of the SGB without buying another Super Nintendo.

@KingMike I knew that the SGB was something along the lines of being a Game Boy in a SNES cartridge but I didn't think it would have to exclusively interact with a SNES to completely work.

Thanks for the info.
