Paper Mario, the only game I've played that was perfect. Everybody has a part in a game they hate, but in this game there wasn't a single level, boss, character, mission, event, cutscene, fight,or part that I didn't love. 10/10!

Ocarina of Time was my favorite for a long time, but I now feel that the 3DS remaster is the definitive version. So I suppose it'd be a three-way-tie between Majora's Mask, Super Mario 64 (which I used to think was improved by the DS version, but am now not so sure about) and Banjo-Tooie. Few games tickled my imagination more as a youngin' than those games, with their wonderfully bizarre worlds that were eager to be explored for hours on end.

@Kid_A, How does the 3DS version make you like the original less? The original didn't drop in quality just because a remake came out.
Ocarina of Time is my favorite, btw.

while I'm probably slightly nostalgia biased at least, the DS version had worse controls and the multiple characters addition and most of the new stars (new small levels were decent at least) were a good idea in theory but not once were they as fun as just playing as Mario in Super Mario 64. And regardless of all of that, the reason why the original is so much better is made apparent when the most fun I had with a remake of one of my all time favorite games growing up was the minigames (which to be fair, were great for minigames).

Well, it's a N64 game. The frame rate and textures on most of those games are just disgusting now. OOT being one that hasn't aged too well visually. Great game, absolutely, but I can understand having a tough time going back to the original.
When I was younger it was Mario Kart 64, mostly because of the awesome multiplayer. Now though it would have to OOT, as I can actually beat it now (wasn't smart enough as a kid )!
