What are your favorite titles in the fighting genre? I have to go with the SNES and Neo Geo title "The Art of Fighting" or maybe "Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers". Actually my favorite fighter of all time would have to definitely be "Capcom v.s. SNK" on the Dreamcast. I loved the fact that you could keep fighting your way around the world over and over again. Building on your character's attributes and strengths. I thought those mechanics in the game were just awesome.
Favorite fighter? Currently my favorite fighter is probably Jon Jones. Along with BJ Penn, Georges St. Pierre, and Brian Stann. er, I'm being told this is a favorite fighter GAME thread...
Um...Smash Bros.
Lots of censorship here...

Top of the list and never to be toppled by anything else is Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition on the Mega Drive. After playing SFII on a friend's SNES for what seemed like ages, SFII was finally out for the MD. I will always love this game.
Next up is Streets of Rage. I don't think side-scrollers ever got better than the Streets of Rage series. Another series that I will always love.
Bit of an odd one now. Eternal Champions on the Mega Drive. Nowhere near as good as Street Fighter II or even Mortal Kombat but it has something that I just can't put my finger on. The music is great, the characters are interesting. Great graphics and backgrounds. Somehow it doesn't qquite gel into a really astounding game - just a good one. I still love it though.
Next is Mortal Kombat II on the 32X. On a system starved of games, I played this a lot. Great graphics and sound, it felt like having an arcade machine at home. I don't think it has aged well, which is why it's quite far down the list.
Last is the Guilty Gear series, just for the music.
The only fighter I ever got into was Mortal Kombat. And I'm REAAAALLLY into that one.
I have to agree. The first Mortal Kombat on Genesis was my favorite Mortal Kombat. Probably because the characters looked so much more realistic than in the rest of the entries. But I spent way more hours trying to execute all the Fatalities, Babebalities, Freindships and the Secret Stage Fatalities for Mortal Kombat 2 on the SNES. Which at that time got better reviews than the Genesis version, because the SNES version displayed better color.
One time I actually hooked up two controllers and played 50 two player fights in a row on Mortal Kombat 2 by myself, just so I could check out the hidden pong game. Yeah I know I had a depraved childhood. lol
@SigourneyBeaver I only had the chance to play DOOM on the 32X. I agree it had great color and graphics ahead of it's time literally. But it died out quickly and I never new too many people who owned one. And the people I knew who did, usually had it detached from their Genesis sitting on a shelf somewhere collecting dust.
Tekken 2 and 3 Virtua Fighter 2 and 4 Soul Calibur 1 - Dreamcast The King of Fighters 94 to 98 Samurai Showdown series Capcom VS SNK (1) Mortal Kombat 2 and 3 - Arcade Fatal Fury series Killer Instinct 1 and 2 - Arcade Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3 Street Fighter II Turbo - Arcade Marvel VS Capcom 2 Fighting Vipers 2
I like Super Smash Bros and Power Stone a lot, but I know a lot of snobs don't label them as true fighters, so BLEH I like Marvel Vs Capcom 1, 2, and 3, SNK vs Capcom, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Guilty Gear, Street Fighter: 3rd Strike, and Mortal Kombat 2 I'm not really one for 3D fighters, though I do like the Naruto games

My favorite is probably Super Street Fighter IV. I dunno, I liked it even more than I did Super Street Fighter II which was my favorite growing up. Runners-up include SoulCalibur II, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, Fatal Fury 3... and Dead or Alive: Dimesions has really grown on me.
Oh, and Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
