Resident Evil 6 has Leon. That automatically makes it better than 5.

Just for you.

Anyone have a decent pawn to recruit in Dragon's Dogma? I'm in my level 40's and it's hard to find a decent strider, sorcerer, fighter. Is like everyone wants to be a mage and warrior, myself included lol.

One of these days I'm going to get a PSN card, right now our PS3 is only used for my dad's MLB the Show game & Netflix, and I haven't touched it for no apparent reason whatsoever.

I'm nearing the point at which I'll be able to buy a points card, but it's like Nintendo wants to prevent me from doing so, lol (I've had a little over $20 sitting on my eShop account for about a month & a half, and just when I'm about ready to get a PSN points card, Ninty's going to be releasing Denpa Men & Cave Story + back to back, effectively draining my eShop account).

When (if) I finally get some money into PSN, what is a good JRPG I could get? I wouldn't like anything too difficult, and have enjoyed games like Kingdom Hearts series, Tales of the Abyss, various Mario RPGs, some FFs (Particularly FFX), Sword of Hope II (3DS VC), and Pokémon.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

On PSN, not PSOne Classics? Legasista, any Atelier games that are on it, Hyperdimension Neptunia. These are not difficult to play, and very traditional JRPGs.

FFIX

No questions, just get it n_n

My past with FF has been kind of hit & miss, which is why I'm a little skeptical about diving into an FF game.

On my GBA I had FFI, FFII, & FFIV. I got lost quickly in FFI. I beat FFII, but it wasn't outstanding. I really enjoyed FFIV, but got lost later in the game (on the moon). I was 12 or 13 the last time I played them, though...

I had (and adored) FFX on PS2, however. It's actually one of my favorite games of all time.

I'll probably get hate for this, but I also enjoyed the cinematic ride that was Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: the Crystal Bearers.

One aspect of IV I didn't like was what I believe is called the "active-time battle system", Where the game used turn based combat, but your characters had a little bar that had to recharge before you could use them again. No other JRPG I've played has used anything like that, but I've heard the PS1 FF's still used it, which is another thing that's putting me off.

EDIT - @OlympicCho, PSone Classics are fine too. I just don't frequent the PS3 that often, so I didn't know they don't fall under the "PSN" branch

I'll look up the games you recommended sometime tomorrow (going off to bed now), thanks!

Me too! I absolutely loved that game.

wow that's the first time i've gotten completely ignored on this forum.

Now for a good JRPG on PS3 I recommend Resonance of Fate. Why? It has guns, sometimes one gets tired of the Sword and Magic.

Yeah, that's pretty much most FF games. You can always set the little bar to charge up faster/slower, depending on what exactly annoys you about it. The only difference from tradition turn-based systems is that you don't have unlimited time to think about what attacks to use, but that's usually not a problem in FF games since most of them (that use ATB) are pretty easy anyway. And ATB works so well with magics like Haste/Slow/Stop. I don't know, I just like it

FFX's combat system is a great version of the traditional turn-based system. FFIX's battles feel really slow in comparison (and grinding takes like 5x as long as it should because there's like a 10sec cutscene showing off the enemies before every battle >.<), but the gameplay isn't the reason I love FFIX so much. It's more the amazing music and story. Mostly the music. On the other hand, the battles are still fun, and way it handles leveling up is pretty simple. I like simple leveling systems in mah JRPGs xP

@MikeDanger1 I haven't had time to pick up Dragon's Dogma. To be honest, I'll probably never get around to it. I did try the demo and it's was pretty freakin' great though.

Played a bit of the Jet Set Radio demo, and it's a bit too clunky for my tastes. Might be worth getting on sale eventually.

So I'll keep an eye on Sonic Adventure 2 HD next, along with getting the Killzone Trilogy.

I'm still not quite sure when I'll be able to add funds to my PSN account, but when I do, I think I'll be going for a PSone Classic called Brave Fencer Musashi.

It had favorable reviews when it originally released, and Tetsuya Nomura (of Kingdom Hearts fame) was involved with it, so it looks like something I'd enjoy.

Would anyone be up for some Borderlands 2 co-op this weekend? The multiplayer in that game is sublime

it was a pretty great first half of a story with vague endgame stuff added because the story ended for some reason.

Yeah the Crystal Bearer is a weird, frustrating title for me. Quality is all over the place.
