I'm trying to find a decently capable computer without spending thousands of dollars. I currently have one of those all in one Dell computers but it's constantly getting bogged down and runs like ass most of the time. It's about 5 years old. Any ideas where i should buy from or what to look for?
I don't need anything fancy and I'd like to keep the cost under 500 dollars if possible. What kind of gaming PC do you all have?
Faster to buy one, perhaps better to build one yourself. Internet's your friend on that one. For example, Linus has some $500 gaming pc build videos out there. Tom's Hardware also has a recently updated article. Steer clear of AIOs and most pre-built$.
If you can run to a bit extra, I'd go with more of a name brand - like Samsung or Western Digital - for the SSD, and also consider going with AM5 as a platform, as that's got a lot more of a future than the AM4 parts I've gone with to get the price down.
I don't think you'll get much off the shelf for that price either and, in any case, cheap pre-builts tend to cut a lot of corners and limit your upgrade possibilities.
