Topic: How Do You Play Original Xbox Games on 360?

Hey guys, I never owned an Xbox and want to play some of the games I missed on my 360, like Halo 2. So, is it as simple as popping the disc into your 360 like putting a GameCube disc into the Wii or is there some way you need to set it up?

Also, I have the new black model 360 with 4 gb, if it helps.

As long as you have the most recent update, it should just start up. If you don't have the proper update it will prompt you to download it.

Here's a list of all the compatible games, if you're curious:

Do you need any attachments to your 360, or can you just pop it in and start playing (with update)?

Do you have a hard drive? I just noticed you said you had the 4GB model, and I'm not 100% sure you can play them on that model without a HD (except for Halo 1 and 2, I think).

No hard drive. If you can still play Halo, great, because I really want to play Halo 2.

You should be able to just pop it in and play it as any other game. You wont need any special hook ups if thats what you are asking. If you do some message saying that the game is incompatible than you might have to download an update or something. I am not sure on the hard drive though like Fox said. Also just in case you didnt know you wont be able to play Halo 2 online either.

For the older model Xbox 360, a hard drive was required in order to play original Xbox games. I am unsure of the new model 360s, but if it doesn't work, then it requires a HDD (my new unit has a hard drive and plays original games). You may also need for it to be connected online for it to download the emulation profile of that game.

Just in case you're wondering, not all Xbox games work and there may be glitches in the ones that do.

I think your better off just buying the old Xbox

If you want to play old school Xbox games online you should just try XLink kai, or if you just want to play with friends Leaf networks
