Objection

The episodes are surprisingly tough, yes. I think it took me nearly as long as it took to beat HL2 to beat each of the episodes due to some chokepoints. As for episode 3/HL3, it's practically been stated by Valve that they're working on it as soon as Portal 2 is done, so hopefully we'll get some news of it at E3 and/or sooner.

Elevator with the debris falling?...At first I was thinking of the underground elevator where you had to wait for it and defend yourself (and Alex) from zombies that appeared out of nowhere, man I hated that part. xD
Never had much trouble with the Citadel elevator part.

Patched it? Hmm, maybe I'll replay the PC version instead of the 360 version then.

I have Portal on my Steam account, but my PC can't run it...

That part was simple. The debris part was a lot harder, in my opinion.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

Oh, now I remember that elevator! I might have had to retry it twice, but I didn't find it particularly difficult... I think I recall there being things that explode that you can use. The part where you defend from combine with a few turrets in that prison whatever it's called was the most difficult in my opinion. I couldn't get past it without a guide. Even then, the guide told me to stack a few boxes and bring a couple turrets up to this one spot where they can't reach you. Kind of cheap, but I don't care...

I just hated that elevator part because you were mainly in the dark, and those stupid Zombines...the debris one was easy for me, just be sure when you shoot it else where that you shoot it towards those beam things. The prison part was probably my favorite after finding out defending yourself the cheap way. xD

Rarely did anything and just sat there as the combine got killed the moment I saw them, and the huge blot of blood on the wall was starting to turn black. xD

I played the debris one after it had been patched, so it was pretty easy, but I know that it was hard in the past. Once you find a cheap way of doing the prison part, it's really easy, that elevator part isn't terribly hard, but the dark does make it more difficult than it would otherwise be, but the end of episode 2 is hard regardless. Probably the hardest section out of all HL2. Out of HL in general, probably the final boss...

Yeah, love the music during the finale though...and those strider footsteps gives me the creeps sometimes. xD

Yeah, the music was great, and the epicness of it all was great. Finally beating it felt great. I just hated those damned hunters...

Oh yeah man, absolutely. The one and only time I resorted to "easy" mode in any of the Half-Life games. And even then I just barely squeaked by.

I'll do it properly at some point, but by then, I had died a dozen times easily...and probably more...and I just wanted to see the closing cinematics.

And those closing cinematics: oh my god.

At the end of episode 2? Yeah, what a tease that was. "Hey guys, coming soon...HAHAHAHA! Just kidding, we'll get back to ya in 3 or 4 years, kthanksbai." I love Valve, but seriously...

SpentAllMyTokens

Why is it Half Life 2, Half Life 2 episode 1, and Half Life 2 episode 2? Isn't Half Life 2 really Half Life 2 episode 1? Why is episode one the second game in the Half Life 2 series? Why isn't it just Half Life 3?

WHY GOD WHY?!

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Objection

Yes, but if they did, we still wouldn't have seen anything. Hl was released in 1999, HL2 was released in 2004. And they've only finished/released 2/3 of what would've been HL3, which if they waited we would not have gotten as the episodes.

I'm really thinking about getting the PS3 version of the Orange Box. Although I'm a complete wimp when it comes to games with any horror elements whatsoever, Portal and... That other game that I can't seem to remember the name of both look awesome.

and since I'll have the game, I'd probably get around to playing HL2 one day anyway

Anyway, the reason I even am thinking about getting it is because I saw a cheap like-new copy on Amazon. My PC in no way can handle a game(unless you count solitaire), so this is really my only option if I ever want to play Portal, which I always have.

Edit: I heard about problems in the PS3 version. Does anyone know what they are?

@zez I think the PS3 version had some problems with framerate issues in HL2. And the other game ur thinking of is Team Fortress 2. Unfortunately, the PS3/360 Orange Box games don't get the same updates that the PC version of the Orange Box (particularly Team Fortress 2) has. Still, the PS3/360 versions of the Orange Box are much cheaper to buy than the PC version.

EDIT The PS3 framerate issue seems to have been patched.

Portal doesn`t really have any horror elements at all, but I can`t say the same for Half Life 2.

Recently went hrough episode 1 which was shorter than I remember (4 hrs) but still fun, except the helicopter fight toward the end. Over halfway through episode 2 now, hunters aren't that big a deal, I need to remember to fight them with their own flachettes or whatever they are called for a cheevo.

I see I haven't mentioned it yet, so I will: The Half-Life series is one that I really want to like, but never can. The first one was too creepy, the second game was too creepy and it introduced those physics and Gravity Gun puzzles I hate so much. I haven't played Episode One, but it looks to be too creepy yet again. Episode Two had far too many puzzles for my liking. I did like HL2 at first, though, before it introduced the Gravity Gun. I miss constantly mowing down guards in intense firefights. Seriously, that's why I play a First Person Shooter. Not to throw random junk at people.
