Haha, didn't expect any less from a gaming board
Plenty of fellow nerds around
Well, we could always start a board RP sometime. It could get messy, but I've done RP's on message boards before
I've found they work better with a DM of sorts, or people start shaping the overall story however they want

I wouldn't even know how to begin with that. My previous "online" role-playing experience invovled the TSR gaming rooms on AOL back in it's heyday. I was starting a campaign called Dusk, a homebrew campaign designed by a guy named Michael Morris (DM Dusk). It seemed like it would be pretty cool. The chat rooms had ways to type OOC (out of character) and they had built-in dice rolling functionality.

All seemed to be going pretty well initially but things went downhill in a hurry when some of the other players (probably power gamers) thought their level 1 characters could take on an extremely experienced dark elven slaver group. It's an encounter that we should have quietly slipped away from but a few of us decided to charge head-long into them. It was a slaughter of course (as it should have been). Staying true to my character, I turned and slipped back into the forest as all the dying dumbasses bought me the precious moments I needed to escape. Out of a party of 8 (iirc) only two of us survived and that is because we saw the futility of the situation and chose not to get involved.

Ahhh good times. lol

Thats not a bad idea however I recommend doing one on an actually RP site not hear on NL. The reason being if you post an RP thread here anyone can join in and you will more than likely get people trying to derail the thread and in the end it will become a big mess. Every thread here is considered a public thread which anyone is allowed to comment in.

Don't I know it. Hell, someone could always make a forum on one of those free sites
But, yeah, lots of people love to derail good RP's, I've been guilty of it myself, but if we got a good group in it...
But we wouldn't necessarily need dice rolls or anything that sophisticated if we got maybe 1-2 DMs that could pop in a few times a day each and check up on things

Hell, if you wanted to keep it simple but still nerd it up to a reasonable degree you could always make a rudimentary char makeup with HP, attack, defense + modifiers and have simple dice rolls done by the DMs. Granted, it'd take a week to get an hour's worth of play in, but it could be fun for 4-5 people
