@HobbitGamer Gas prices are something I postively love not having to worry about here in Japan. Public transit is excellent. The only time I miss having my own vehicle is if I want to buy something like furniture, I have to get it delivered. But it's more than worth the trade off of not having to deal with gas, insurance, loans, repairs, oil changes...

Apparently Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony believe that this will indeed raise prices in the U.S and cost jobs. As they have sent a joint statement to the white house stating this and other concerns.
The problem with those sorts of claims is you never really know how honest they're being.
There are 2 possibilities:
1) It would be genuinely terrible for their businesses, and cause unavoidable damage to the industry.
2) There are actually plenty of alternative countries to China where they could manufacture their consoles, with insignificant differences in price, but they just don't want to go through the all of the hassle of having to move their manufacturing base, especially given that trade policies might change in 2020 if there's a change in the US presidency.
What would make me more annoying is that an increase in price in the US would affect all the areas that are supplied by them - like Latin America, and we have no chance of saying anything since Nintendo doesn’t have an official presence here.
Consoles are expensive enough nowadays.
