So Aonuma has apparently recently teased a potential remaster/remake of Skyward Sword for Switch. I actually don’t like Skyward Sword for two main reasons; the silent realms and the controls. But anyway whether it would work on Switch isn’t the point I’m making. Because I think that this means the following for zelda games are in development;
1.no other remakes are being made for Switch at the moment apart from SS.
2. The Breath of the Wild sequel is in development but we won’t see it for a while.
3. There’s either; a 2d zelda in development for 3ds OR a game using the oot 3d engine to make oot mm and a third game a trilogy. These games probably will release on 3ds but there’s a possibility itl be on its successor if it exists.
I am a Zelda fan since Ocarina of Time. I didn't like Skyword Sword nor Breath of the Wild. I think that Aonuma wants to make another Breath of the Wild, though.
I think Skyward Sword on Switch is inevitable. I don't expect a remaster, pretty much just a straight port sometime between now and the next new Zelda title. So... that means anytime in the next 5ish years lol
I don't see how him mentioning a Skyward Sword port tells us anything about those other issues.
I imagine they are making it though. It's the logical choice given that it's one of the only main Zelda games that hasn't been ported/remastered and they can use the Switch motion controls.
After that, we desperately need a Mario Sunshine remaster though. That's one of the biggest Nintendo games that you can't play on any modern platform.
Twilight and Wind Waker were remastered for wii U and Ocarnia of Time and Majora's Mask for 3DS so it makes sense they chose Skyward Sword for switch as it has been the only 3D zelda game yet to be remastered.
A third using Oot engine to create a trilogy, YES PLEASE!!
But I doubt I can see that happening unfortunately, the systems have moved on since then.
Can't wait for the Skyward sword remake. Loved the game, true the motion controls were a bit tricky, well with the fights with Ghirahim were very annoying, but the worlds themselves were brilliant (and depressing with the little robots which were out of power and the boat over the dried up sea)

Skyward Sword doesn't interest me in the slightest especially if motion controls are still required. If they just brought over the other 2 HD games and added LTTP to the Switch Online library that would tide me over nicely until BOTW 2!
Skyward Sword, urghh. If it's a straight port with some adjustments, but relys on the motion controls then forget it. That was the reason i stopped playing Skyward Sword in the first place. Consistent calibrating the remote with the sensor. Can see why it was made, to appease the high-ups who were keen on motion controls being the base. They worked for Mario Galaxy and some other games, but not on Skyward Sword for some reason.
Personally, they should just hurry up and bring SNES and N64 games to the Nintendo Online service, with it launching with A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time.
Skyward Sword has a few great moments but the problem is that in spite of being a relatively limited game with small areas and not many dungeons it gets repetitive and old too soon. That and Breath of the Wild are the only 3D Zelda games I haven't played more than once.
The 3DS versions of OoT and MM added visual depth and more beautiful visuals while respecting the original artwork and also expanded Majora's Mask map and activities. The Wind Waker HD is a subtle remaster but the resolution upgrade is meaningful. I love how Tantalus upgraded the textures in Twilight Princess HD extensively and reworked the visuals, it looks awesome. It's the most beautiful Zelda game now.
1. There is nothing to suggest this, the dev team could very well be making remakes of 2D Zelda games, as they did with the LOZ special edition thing on Switch Online.
2. If the devs were making a BOTW 2, then we would have at least some announcement, as development would not take nearly as long as it would without the assets (assuming this is a sequel akin to MM being a sequel to OOT, which was released only 2 years after the original).
3. The 3DS has been losing support from consumers. It would not be a wise decision to make a brand new game for a console that is already losing 1st party support. Making another game in the OOT/MM sub series would be very weird, as those games were released on the N64.

I'd like to see Minish Cap given an HD 3D port to the 3DS. That's a really great Zelda game, and it's kinda forgotten about. Failing that, Link's Awakening is worthy of a reboot too, although it has technically been remade once before, of course.
In terms of the Switch... Skyward Sword port would be very welcome. As for BOTW... I'm keeping my expectations in check on this one... but, I think it's reasonable to say that the OOT to MM success on the N64 is proof of concept that some sort of sequel would work... Heck, just inserting a load more shrines and some proper dungeons into the current game would be enough for me!
I love how the N64 games look on 3DS. The three remakes that Nintendo/Grezzo made are awesome: Star Fox 64 3D, Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D. I always wanted Super Mario 64 3D (the DS version is not great because of graphics and controls). Somehow the stereoscopic 3D works great in Nintendo 64 games, probably because of the simpler geometry.
Sorry to break the party BUT Skyward Sword has officially been said that it is not going to appear as a remaster AND I kind of made a thread about this already xD
