Topic: What switch games have released recently that are must haves?

I'm trying to come up with some games to get for my B day this month and usually I try to pick one major release for each current system. For PS4 I've picked RE Village but on the switch I'm struggling to think of what I want. I've been considering Immortals Fenyx rising or Mario 3D world.

I'm into platformers, RPG's, action games or Anything with a good amount of content. Any other suggestions?

@Zeldafan79 immortals was good. Although gameplay wise it feels like a been there done that after botw. The story is obviously vastly different but it's still engaging. Although last year did you play AoC? It was phenomenal! Loved it, 10/10.

I'm also playing thru monster hunter which is eh..ok. I know it's getting reviewed great just about everywhere but I'm just having an ok time with it. Might be Worth a look though.

I actually have Age of calamity. It's pretty good. It'll have to hold me over until the BOTW sequel comes out. Immortals is on my maybe list but I'm not exactly dying to play it.

It might help knowing what you've already played on the system.

Definitely consider Monster Hunter Rise. It's one of the best games on the system.

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.

@Zeldafan79 nice. Immortals is always on sale for 30 so I'd go that route and maybe some eshop credit? That's what I always ask for. A budget priced game and cred...

@Zeldafan79 You could save some of that money, because it's possible an unannounced game could drop between now and E3. And there's usually a very good sale around E3. I mention that in case you some games go on sale that haven't been on sale before, or get bigger discounts than previously seen.

I was going to look at your nintendolife profile's games page to see what major games you already have, but you hadn't filled that out. Although, that sounds like a chore as I type here

Thanks! I'll be 42 and starting to feel like a old fart. Still love my games though!

@Zeldafan79 pick up Immortals for the PS4, it runs and looks horrible on Switch (to the point I couldn't complete it as the motion blur gave me motion sickness).
On switch I would highly recommend Monster Hunter Rise or Hades.

Off the top of my head below is a few platformers, action and rpg games you may have overlooked.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is an under rated gem.
Cadence of Hyrule got a physical release last year with all the DLC.
The Steamworld Collections are good value for how great the games are as well as a mix of genres.
The South Park games are really good old skool jrpgs (a tad easy though).
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a top tier 2D platformer made by the old Rare guys.
Catherine: Full Body is a platform/puzzle game but it's not for everyone.
Captain Toad, it has the simple but great idea of a platform game where you can't jump with lots of charm which I don't think people talk enough about.
Shin Megami Tensei 3 is out in a few weeks and I'm looking forward to it.

Captain Toad is really cool. I laughed at first as a must have, but kinda agree. I wouldn’t want to be without it.

This isn't a Switch recommendation, but Nier Replicant came out on the PS4 recently and I've been having a lot of fun with it. Not sure if you've played Nier Automata, but if you haven't you absolutely should, that game is fantastic and I'd highly recommend for any action JRPG lover.

@rockodoodle yeah, I wouldn’t put Captain Toad as a must play platformer but it’s very enjoyable. I mentioned it as seems to get overlooked as a D grade Mario spin off but I’d put it on par with the Switch Yoshi or Luigi’s Mansion games.

Except for Monster Hunter Rise, the best action hack and slash- Astral Chain. Even thought I love DMC and Bayonetta, this game has the best combat hack and slash gameplay ever, good soundtrack and amazing visuals. The combat is super deep and the game can be very challenging but the combo system is the top of its genre.

@Znake I'm abit iffy on Astral Chain. The combat is great but the writing, dungeons and detective gameplay always comes off as lacking for me. It would be fine if it was just an action game but when you have to spend time talking to NPCs with rubbish dialogue, solve and do basic puzzles and platforming in dungeons and do investigating of just following a line and answering multiple choice questions it takes away from the overall game to become just a decent adventure game rather than a great action game.

I actually have astral chain. I loved the combat and any stage where you get to fight but the stealth sections were a nightmare for me. I just plain suck at stealth and try as i might i always screw it up. I also found the investigation parts to be a real drag. It's still a good game but if a sequel were made I'd almost prefer less dull parts and more action. It's a really nice looking game though!

I agree with you, but Arkham series had it too, and it helps appreciate the action even more, when there are breaks between intense action moment. I know it’s makes it more of an adventure, but it helps to show the diverse use of the chimeras in daily life than just combat. I loved DMC4 for example but this combat system is so much deeper. Maybe check some Astral Chain Combo Mad videos-it shows crazy combinations. I think it’s one of Nintendo’s hidden gems.
