I think it's 50 for gamestop to hold a console. And yeah considering how successful their "shortages" have been for them, I fully suspect them to under produce the switch.
I almost forgot, that weird country called the United States where you have to pay to pre-order stuff. Pre-orders over here are often cheaper than the day-one price...
The Sacred Hero Promises An Incredible Adventure On Nintendo Switch
We weren’t expecting to hear more on Nintendo Switch games until next month, but, as that wait continues, independent developers have started to pledge their support for the console.
SiMPLiSTiC has become the latest to do so, sharing an early development teaser for The Sacred Hero which, targeting a 2018 release, is an adventure game that aims to twist the conventions of the RPG genre.
“We have the license and the game is currently in development. Ruven Wegner (or as you may know him as Music Proposition) will be lending his talents towards the project,” the developer shared. “This game is aiming to take a unique twist on the RPG genre and we are excited to see your reactions to what we have in store!”
The brief teaser largely dwells on a sword impaled in a stone, but eagle-eyed viewers have shown concern that it is the same weapon model used in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Not only that but, as the camera pans above ground, there are clear frame rate drops.
The developer has moved to address these, explaining that the sword has been used as a placeholder and that they “do not plan on using any content from other games or creators without their authorization to do so in the final game, especially Nintendo.” The lag spikes are blamed on the game’s early development, which means it hasn’t been optimised yet.
Nintendo Switch will release worldwide in March 2017.
Thinking about it, the way cynicism is being directed towards the Switch by some is looking good. I remember with the Wii U most of the cynics were lining it up alongside the Wii. Saying that Nintendo doesn't understand, that it's online would be horrible, graphics would be horrible and motion controls were dead. Basically recycling the criticisms the Wii got. A sign of things to come when Joe Average consumer thought the Wii U was an accessory for the Wii. Not so much with the Switch.
With the Switch there seem to be two lines of attack. The first is just a general disbelief about what we've been shown. That games like Skyrim won't be coming or that they're doing a Watch Dogs with the gameplay footage. Or that the library will be just ports and third parties will bail like they always do. The second line of attack is directed at its portability. Usually that it won't make as good a portable as the 3DS. It's too bulky and the battery life is too short.
This tells me two things:
1. Even the cynics think the games as shown looked good
2. Even the cynics understand the concept
Nintendo confirms start time for the Switch Presentation.
January 12, 8 pm PT (West coast)
January 12, 11 pm ET (East coast)
January 13, 4 am GMT (UK)
January 13, 5 am CET (Central Europe)
January 13, 1 pm JST (Japan)
January 13, 3 pm AEDT (Australia)
That's Friday the 13th. Unlucky for some. More specifically us in Europe. That's 4 in the morning. Ouch! Europe as ever in the foremost thoughts of Nintendo.
4am? Don't get why this is so late given that all other directs etc. have been done at times (3-9pm from what I recall) that is accessible for Europeans

True but I'm just going to book the day. Get 2 days of Switchy goodness and a day with my partner.
However yes I agree it is unlucky for many. However unlike the Nintendo Directs, I have a feeling this will be live instead of pre-recorded hence the time difference to other Directs
I feel like this is going to be a primarily Japanese event, and that there won't be a lot of western 3rd parties shown off in the presentation as a result. Instead, they'll be announced afterwards by the various publishers and NoA on Twitter.
I'm expecting the presentation to be focused on hardware and services, as well as 1st party games and Japanese 3rd parties, with some western 3rd parties like Skyrim and FIFA. Probably around an hour long.

Because they have to work out a time that makes sense for both the US and Japan. If it had been 5PM in London then it would have been a 2AM event in Tokyo. Fine for something like E3 which isn't targeted for that audience but not so much for a big reveal. If they had done it so that it was in the morning for London? Well that'd be fine for Japan and Australia but now the US, esp the East coast, has to stay up after midnight to watch it.
For a global live event there's no time that works for everyone. Usually they get away with it by making it at a bad time for Australia and Japan.
6 AM for me. A somewhat humane time to wake up. ;D
Someone will always be in the "wrong" timezone with these events. This time it's most of Europe and Africa.
At least there'll be news and impressions pouring in the whole Friday no matter where you are!
@IceClimbers I'm expecting at least a fairly lenghty stream, even if the stage show doesn't take too much time. Maybe there will be Treehouse Live style demonstrations, industry interviews and such.
"The Playtonic team is sad to confirm that despite our best efforts and exploring every possible avenue, we’ve encountered unforeseen technical issues that unfortunately mean it will be impossible for us to release the game on Wii U as initially planned."
I wonder how well the content will be presented. From I've read, it seems to be a live event that their Japanese investors will be at. If true, then I feel like the presentation could end up being more informative than exciting.
@Moshugan That I could see happening, though that would suck for everyone not in Japan, Australia, or the US west coast.
So Crowdfunding PRIME is going to be impossible. Pushing for Switch after Nintendo fans have been burned by every crowdfunded game of the past 5 years basically means it wont be done.
I cant think of one that hasnt screwed over Nintendo fans either with delays or cancellations.
Oh well. This is the industry.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
though that would suck for everyone not in Japan, Australia, or the US west coast.
Australia is incidental. While we've received some special attention from Ninty, (getting the N3DS before the rest of the west and getting some of Japan's wave 1 amiibo to make up for stock issues,) I don't think we're a large enough market to warrant deliberate consideration in the switch reveal.
Well they want their system to be global now, so we've got that going for it. It's 4 am for me and I'm fine. I'll pre-order that weekend if the shops in my country have it up.
I am not saying it is useless, but we are really in diminishing returns territory especially with TV content. And the more action packed something is you are better off with higher frame rates.
