@Ralizah Well make it only useable with the GC controller and sell lots of the GC controller adapter, like I doubt the Smash community will accept anything but the actual GC controller being supported for Smash.
@Grumblevolcano It would be kind of ridiculous to make the system's VC playable with an external controller only. What they could do, and this would be really cool, is design separate Gamecube-themed joycons to use when playing those games.
@Grumblevolcano The Wii U is not a console designed around letting you play games anywhere. There's no sense in designing a system like that and then releasing games that can't be played in handheld form wthout an external controller.
Moreover, Gamecube controls are more traditional and don't require any motion control weirdness, so there's no excuse for not letting people play them like any other VC game.
I mean, if Nintendo wants to include Gamecube controller support in addition to being able to play them with joycon controls, then that's all well and good, but Nintendo would be stupid to make them work with only one controller that is inconvenient to play in a portable state.
In the end, the console design looks fantastic, and given the positive feedback from major 3rd party developers, we can also expect another positive feedback, but from the consumers themselves next January.
Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

For those who have been wondering if Nintendo mobile games will be coming to the Switch... the answer is no for the Super Mario Run at least and I would assume maybe not for any future mobile game either.
@FragRed Read the CNET article that link is based. Nowhere is Reggie quoted as saying no. It's interpreted as 'no' by the article, butit's not clearly ruled out by Reggie. Not that I care - I can't see why anyone's particularly interested in mobile games coming to Switch (unless Switch itself is a mobile, which seemingly isn't happening), and I don't expect it to happen, but I'm a stickler for accuracy and not spreading false confirmations, and it's simply not accurate to say that Reggie said it wasn't happening. If he said did say it, why have they omitted it from the article?
@Ralizah They already did that with Wii digital downloads on Wii U, most of them force you to have a Wii Remote.
The key word there is "most". The ones that supported the CC originally worked with the Pro Controller or GamePad. With games that originally worked with the WiiMote? Well a lot of those can't really be easily mapped to a Pro Controller or GamePad. Even the ones that don't use the pointer or motion controls have an odd button layout.
With Gamecube games on the Switch? Assuming it has analogue triggers the only differences are the button layout for A/B/X/Y and a few extra buttons/triggers. Also the D-Pad is more usable on the pro controller and split on the Switch. The second analogue stick is also a bit different. Is that enough differences that some people will want to use a GC controller instead? Sure. Is it so different that GC games won't be playable on it? No, this is basically as close to a GC controller as it could get.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
If the Switch has analog triggers, then pretty much all GameCube games should be good. The only game where people would really want actual GameCube controllers would be Melee, which most would be playing on the TV anyways.
As I said in the article comments - that Sacred Hero looks absolute pants. If you're going to tease something, make it something that represents the best of what you're working on. If that video is representative of the best of that game then it's going straight to nowhere. Those graphics are from the Gamecube era. And jerky framerate, in a teaser.... no excuse.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@gcunit To be perfectly honest, I have to agree. I understand that it's an indie title and my standards shouldn't be so ridiculously high but...surely it would be better to tease once they've got some better footage? Or if the footage isn't there, through some other means?
Then again, I'm not a businessman so I don't know what pressures there are in publishing a teaser trailer 2 years prior to release =/

I think GC era is a little harsh however I do have to agree about its graphics not being the best. But then again, they aren't exactly terrible. However I completely agree about the jerky frame rate. Do we know who is developing this game?
Nintendo Switch Battery Life To Be 5-8 Hours; Final Devkits Are Being Shipped
Additional details on the Nintendo Switch, the upcoming new console from the Japanese company, will be coming in around one month, but we have managed to learn more about it through several leaks. According to one of these older rumors, the console’s battery life is going to be much shorter than other handheld consoles, but it seems like things will be different in the final release.
In a new video shared by NateDrake on YouTube, the insider reveals some interesting information regarding the Nintendo Switch’s battery life, confirming that the company is aiming to increase it to 5-8 hours from the older devkit, which came with a 3 hours life. Speaking about devkit, it seems like the final version is currently being shipped, with no notable changes in specs from the older devkit sent a few months back. Needless to say, the news about the Switch battery life are quite good, making playing on the go a more than viable option.
It's not really a teaser when we don't even know what the game is about. A teaser is made to get people excited for something, that doesn't work if it's a new IP, or unknown game, from a developer I've never heard of.
@gcunit Agreed. That trailer certainly doesn't excite me. Showing a Zelda sword stuck in a stone in a cave under a forest (with bad FPS) doesn't exactly tell me much about the game, or why I might end up enjoying the game. I especially don't understand why they would use a Zelda sword as a placeholder sword. Kind of unprofessional IMO. Not sure why they couldn't get their art guy to draw one up. I understand they're not a major studio and it's early in development, but first impressions are pretty important.
I hope they have a legitimate a business reason for releasing that trailer.
I don't think they have an art guy. This started out as a solo project from a teenager, and he's just trying his best to make it work. But I doubt that he'll be able to get this project off the ground without some proper funding.
