I've long regarded Bayo2 as the best action game ever made, and Bayonetta 3 is simply superior in every way.
The combat is better. More varied weapons, more combos, and the summons integrated into combo finishers is insanely rewarding.
The environments are more open and way more fun to explore, the secrets extremely well hidden- its a constant addiction to collect the little light green hoop currency and destroy everything for loot (environments are extremely destructible).
The puzzles are smartly integrated and break up the gameplay nicely, and unlike games such as God of War and Horizon, don't have the characters backseat driving the entire time explaining how to solve every basic little puzzle instead of letting the player figure it out for themselves.
If anything could be argued to get repetitive, it was Bayo 1 and 2 because they offered nothing besides the same exact combat and light exploration all game. Whereas Bayo 3 mixes it up with a more natural balance of exploration, puzzles, way more move sets due to the weapon/summons variety, has a crow, toad and cat you must chase down or find in every chapter which then unlocks extra challenge chapters if you find all 3, and actually offers 3 different gameplay styles to keep things from getting repetitive. Be it Bayonetta with dodging witch time, Viola with blocking witch time, and Jeanne with quick bursts of 2D stealth gameplay, all of which hits the mark dead on.
I suppose the enemies all being mint/white could be a legit criticism, but that's such a small thing it doesn't even register on my radar. The actual designs are pure fire. Way more creative than those of past games. It also has Angel enemies which are not humunculi and have the typical white/gold colors, and Demon enemies which are not humunculi and have typical red/purple colors.
Obviously the game doesn't look as good as a PS5 game, but I'll be darned if it's not an extremely gorgeous game in its own right. Definitely a step up from Bayonetta 2, and an entire generational leap in gameplay mechanics.
Honestly the best action game I've played in my entire life. Probably top 5 best video games of all time.

And for the record, that Electric Playground video is the most trash take I think I've seen in years. That dude is so far off I'm convinced he's intentionally trolling.
Same dude I said had trash takes when talking about shmups. He's a clown. Plenty of other impressions to listen to besides the clown, unless you just like circus entertainment for kicks.
Imo, Bayonetta 3 is an absolute masterpiece that has set a new bar for what an action game should be. Not everyone will agree with my take, but on the whole most ppl do agree it's an absolute must-play title
I’ll second that. I’m not enjoying the narrative currently but the actual gameplay is strength to strength. The art direction follows a specific theme as all Bayo games do but it isn’t bland. With the game play styles between characters they used that as an excuse to stuff more set pieces into the game.

And we just learned Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak gets its Title Update 3 on November 24th (Thanksgiving Day! Next Thursday!).
Risen Kushala Daora (with new armor and weapons)
Risen Teostra (with new armor and weapons)
Chaotic Gore Magala (with new armor and weapons)
Followers can now join any Master Rank Quests! ANY QUESTS! Not just the small selection of "Follower Quests" as has been the case up until now. This means the entire game of Sunbreak can be played with AI partners for a full hunting party! That's insane!
New plushy monster weapons as paid DLC
New Augment choices
Tons of new event Quests with layered armor and other rewards
Anomoly Rank increased to Level 200!
7 star anomoly investigations added with monsters such as Seething Bazelgeuse and Scorned Magnamalo
This game is truly the ultimate Monster Hunter experience. Nothing else even comes close to touching it. And they're not even done yet. Roadmap says another Title Update is coming in winter 2023 and a final Title Update in Spring 2023.
Bit surprised Pokemon Scarlet/Violet reviews haven't gone live yet when the game's 2 days away from release. Does this usually happen? I vividly remember PLA reviews coming out about 3-4 days prior for a recent example.

@JaxonH i second your comentary, the only downsize of Bayonetta 3 is it controversial ending/plot, the rest of the game is pure masterpiece, it elevate the action genre with even more insane set pieces, add more options for us to explore the stages of the game, and as you said have tree playable characters with distinct playable style, after two similar Bayonetta games on seventh generation of consoles and Wii U, i glad, Bayonetta 3 is a very ambitous game, Bayonetta 3 is tied with Kirby and the Forgotten Land is my GOTY for this year.
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika
I haven't finished the game but I know what it is- it's kinda obvious- any time an ending is controversial you already know why.
But the ending is fine, imo. Ppl are just afraid of the implications, as if Bayonetta won't return or something. Which... to me that's the best kind of ending. I hate when endings are samey predictable happy stuff because the devs are too afraid to go bold. Xenoblade 2, despite having a fantastic twist at the end, could have been so much more impactful if it dared to be bold.
Like, it's a multiverse story. Where there's tons of different Bayonettas. And all throughout the game we watch them die one by one. If ever there was an opportune moment to go bold and still have a viable explanation for the next game, this would be that opportune moment. They took it, and I applaud that.
@JaxonH i play the franchise for Bayonetta, not for Viola, if the next Bayonetta game don't feature Bayonetta as the main protagonist, i will refuse to buy this game, is like playing a Legend of Zelda game with a random dude(Link is the protagonist of the franchise, this is how i felt, when it implied Viola could be the main protagonist of the franchise ownard).
Almost any time I see the dedicated gamer crowd online complain about a "bad story" in a video game sequel, it's because the end product challenged or subverted their established expectations in some way. Ironically, hearing a story is controversial just gets me more excited these days.
@JaxonH Honestly, that's not 'just' a XC2 problem. All of the mainline Xenoblade games to date have a moment where they supposedly kill the main female character/love interest, only to reveal that she somehow beat the system and survived. It's a shame, because as powerful as that one scene from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was, for example, I never felt too despairing, because I knew from past experience with previous games what the result would be.
If they feel the need to include a "we're killing your waifu" moment in their next game, they need to go full Aerith and permanently remove her from the equation, because such twists are just getting boring now.
I am glad the ending of XC3 managed to maintain some of its emotional heft, though.
Personally, I think it's preposterous to even think they would be "done" with Bayonetta. It's Platinum's safest bet that continues to be funded.
It's just an ending. Don't take it so seriously. An ending in a crazy multiverse at that. You think they won't have some explanation for the next game? OF COURSE they will.
They're likely just setting up a spinoff series. Which hey, if you're not interested you don't gotta buy. But I'm all about it. Gimme that Viola spinoff.
But even if they somehow lost their mind and decided "eh, we think we'll just permanently kill off our biggest mascot character for no reason", that still doesn't affect this game. It might affect the next game, but the next game doesn't even exist yet. Soooo, ya. Who cares.
They're gonna do what they're gonna do. Just enjoy the games along the way. Even assuming the paranoia pans out as warranted, it is what it is. Even if I'd prefer Bayonetta, I love all Platinum games. And you better believe I'll be all over whatever they make next, be it Bayonetta, Viola or the Tooth Fairy

I don't perceive his opinions to be in good faith. That's why I call him a clown. Never said it's specifically against Nintendo. But they're so radical and elitist and reeking of bias. Can I prove it? No. But I believe it with all my heart.
I said it long before his Bayonetta video and I stand by it now more than ever. His opinions are trash meant for clicks and to stroke his own elitist ego.
And even of none of that is true, the fact his "opinions" are so consistently outside the norm, and not just big media norm but normal gamers too, that indicates untrustworthiness.
He's just one lone voice in the void and I've seen zero evidence to convince me why his opinion should be given any credence over any other random stranger.
If I am to take someone's opinion as valid for consideration, I need evidence as to why I'm prioritizing that opinion over the tens of thousands of others. Ppl trust reviewers who consistently demonstrate their opinions are in line with majority of gamers reading the review, or not terribly far off. Otherwise the opinion holds zero value, as there's no confidence you'll share that opinion.
This dude consistently demonstrates the complete opposite. 9 times out of 10 his opinion doesn't even remotely align with my own, or the majority of the gamership. Ppl like that are useful for two things. Feeding the small echo chamber of the like-minded, and being used as "evidence" anytime someone wants to rail against consensus.
Imagine someone who says sunsets are ugly. Then goes on to say puppies are hideous. Then goes on to say Glacier National Park makes them puke. While none of these things are "objective truths"- nobody can say the sunset is "objectively beatiful", consistently holding opposite opinions of the vast majority shows more than "just one happenstance view that doesn't align with my own". If it was just saying sunsets are ugly, ok. Maybe dude just has weird taste in beauty. But sunsets AND puppies AND gorgeous national parks AND etc etc etc? Come now. I'm calling such a person a clown... a contrarian... someone who simply likes the attention for criticizing what everyone else loves. Can I "prove" it's not their honest opinion? No. But I don't need to. It's not a court of law. I use Bayesian inference to form conclusions based on the best evidence I have. And the best evidence I have leads me to believe they are not sharing views in good faith.
The fact NintendoLife fired his butt... speaks volumes. And his Bayonetta video, if anything, just confirms what I was already saying about him- he can't be trusted.
Companies don't just permanently kill off cash cows. Furthermore, multiverse story. Plenty of ways to explain a Bayo in the future. Furthermore, it's a game with heaven and hell, and any number of stories could start with her battling her way out or making a deal to come back.
Bottom line, stop and think. Common sense. Bayonetta isn't going anywhere.
