@JaxonH actualy Bayonetta 3 use some concept from Scalebound(the exclusive game Platinum Games developed for Xbox One, the lead designer for the game is also the director of Bayonetta 3, in this case the concept i refering is the mechanic of Demon Slave that was adapted from using that dragon in Scalebound), if you watch some gameplay for the game, you might notice some similarties with Demon Slave.
It's so awesome. Everyone was hyped for Scalebound because of how awesome it looked controlling giant dragons. And they fit that mechanic perfectly into Bayo3! Summoning Gomorrah has Scalebound written all over it.
What really makes Bayonetta 3 special is the fact it was built on a foundation of the greatest action series combat of all time, then sprinkled in the best ideas and concepts from Scalebound, improved the exploration and hidden item gameplay loop, and improved the story.
Scalebound truly lives on through Bayonetta 3.
Mmmmm mmmmm this game is so freaking good! I'm in Chapter 3 exploring these Chinese/Japanese temple like buildings, just beat a Challenge Room called "Tricky Terrain" where that turquoise mist pulls you toward it, all the while enemies encircle the perimeter of the arena with laser scope shots lining up at you, and missiles zeroing in from above. You have to survive for like a minute. Such creativity.
Though I can't say Bayonetta 2 didn't also have some creative challenges. I remember one where you couldn't touch the ground for 60 seconds, and there were these flying enemies you'd have to head hop on over and over while avoiding their attacks. It was so hard. But so creative. Kamiya and the guys at Platinum are a rare breed of creative genius.
@JaxonH yes i remember this chalenges in Bayonetta 2(had to shoot the giant Angel enemie constinualy, i used Love is Blue and Alrune to beat this chalenge) a intering fact to you all chalenge names is from norse mithology
@JaxonH that yoyo is my favorite weapon of the game, Platinum Games outdones themself with the weapons of the game, and speaking of weapons did you noticed most of the Masquarede Rage attack will fit well for a new Final Smash for Bayonetta(specially Traionetta).
i have ADHD and Asperger( a mild form of Austism), so games that offer me plenty of collectibles to collect and engaging mechanic is good for me, that why i love the Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid e Pokémon franchise, not this this franchises are amazing, but they something that when i play them make my agitated mind feel relaxed and calm.
With 2 months left of the year, I've been thinking about my top 5 games this year. Currently I'd go with:
1. Xenoblade Chronicles 3
2. Bayonetta 3
3. Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes
4. Nier Automata
5. Portal Companion Collection
If you include DLC in the list, it's almost the same just with the MK8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass in 1st and everything else moves down 1 spot.
1) Xenoblade chronicles 3
2) Sparks of Hope
3) Trianlge Strategy
4) FE: 3 Hopes
5) TBD, but I have no doubt it'll be Shredders Revenge. It might even bump up to # 2 or #3. Once my LRG copy arrives, I'll report back! Same with Bayonetta 3.
@Giancarlothomaz
Kirby was great. There were just a LOT of strong contenders this year. Are you into other genres? You're into Bayonetta 3 so clearly you play core games. What about Nier Automata which is similar to Bayonetta 3 (at least in combat)?
Or JRPGs like Xenoblade 3 and Persona 5 Royal? Or Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. Or the Portal games? What about strategy games like Mario Rabbids or Triangle Strategy?
@JaxonH my favorite genres are action adventure, RPG and plataform(more like 3D) and also part of my income come from the rent to the tenant, so i cant spent my money willy nilly in games, my country just elected a person responsible for the bigest corruption scandal we have the unfortunately to witness, knowing this and without a tenant to give me income, first i need to think about my future before making any future purchase of games/consoles, i hope you understand my situation.
@Grumblevolcano Seeing these lists is bittersweet because...there are so many good games I haven't got around to this year.
I'd love to have a top 5 list that includes Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3, Triangle Strategy, Bayonetta 3, Mario and Rabbids and/or Nier Automata...but I've been busy with Pokemon Legends Arceus, Fire Emblem Three Hopes, Persona 5 Royal, etc...
I don't think the highs have been as high as 2017 for the Switch, but there's no doubt in my mind that this has been the best year for the console so far.
I wish I had time to get around to all the games I've bought this year but work has been so....well it's been a thing for 7 months now, and not in a good way.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Bayonetta 3 setpiece are just insane, i was blown away by one of them(3D and then back to 2D, again to 3D), WOW and with Hideki Kamiya stating that 9 Bayonetta games is not be enough, i don't know how Platinum Games can surpass Bayonetta 3 insane setpiece, Bayonetta 3 setpiece put all action games and every MCU series/movies so far to shame
As a side note, my internet has been.... super unstable so downloading is a bit of a trial. Not on Nintendo that one. But while waiting for it I've been checking the bandwidth the Switch is using over WiFi downloading the game
57Mbps, I'm on a 50Mbps plan (yay Australia) so that's about the limit. And also not toooo bad for WiFi generally. So, I think we can safely dismiss all those posts from people who complain that this Switch itself has poor WiFi and use its connection tester as evidence
