I'd go for a standard US/UK converter. No need to purchase another AC adapter if you ask me.

Somehow I've purchased 3 pieces of hardware in the last month. Wth.

I got the SteamDeck because my plave in the queue finally came up. So that was understandable and was planned for a full year in advance.

But then the Splatoon 3 Switch OLED was revealed, and for $322 USD shipped I... I just couldnt say no. It's the sexiest limited edition Switch OLED (or Switch in general) to date. Had to.

And just now, I ordered a PS5 for my brother for Christmas. Of course Sony is only selling them as bundles with Horizon to charge extra and scoop that extra $50 from ppl. And then $13 shipping on top of tax. So it ended up basically a $600 purchase when I would have preferred just grabbing the $400 digital version for him instead. He's all digital anyways.

But ya. That's a lot of hardware for a single month. I'm done spending for at least the next 6 months, barring the Switch games I already planned to buy and a Christmas gift for mom. Beside that I'm going full fiscal diet. No more gadgets or accessories or meaningless tat. Not for a good while anyways.

@JaxonH I definitely will play it. Being still fairly new to the Switch, it'll probably be a while since I chose to start at the "beginning" of the series and have Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition be my first Switch game, but there's no doubt I will play it at some point. I've heard nothing but great things about it too, but unless I ended up hating the first game (I don't), there was never a doubt.

Eh, you're not missing much. Not yet anyways. 95% + of PS5 games are also on PS4, and it doesn't look like that's going to change any time soon.

It's a nice luxury purchase if you can afford it, don't get me wrong- it offers faster load times and some better performance options, and a small handful of exclusive games not available. But PS4 games already looked so good, with good enough performance, and the list of exclusives is pretty small (and I doubt they'd suit your taste anyways) so it really is a luxury extra, not a necessity. That will slowly change over the next few years, but don't feel like you're missing out on some gamechanging experience now.

I am forever reminded of how poor the tech literacy of gamers is. Between the article on the front page with the DF discussion on games that push the Switch to the limit and just general stuff. Eg I got downvoted to hell on Reddit the other day for correcting someone when they claimed the IR camera on the JoyCon was used for motion control. And it seems to happen every time I post on any Nintendo related sub-reddit. eg I remember a similar thing happening when I said I had tested and could confirm the official Wii LAN adapter was 10/100 & USB 2.0 and so wasn't limited to 10Mbps either via it being 10Mbps or USB 1.0

I mean I love Nintendo fanboys generally but damn, some of you guys REALLY shouldn't be talking about hardware or software

It's funny how all the console users like to talk about specs even though it's the PC gaming where all that really matters. I just find it abit boring myself as it just goes over my head and also the actual playing games bit is the fun part of gaming.

@jump I feel like PC gaming is almost a separate hobby entirely. Personally PC is my platform of choice outside of the Switch...but I wouldn't be surprised if I've spent as much time researching my hardware, installing games and optimising them as I have playing them on the thing. I've also encountered PC gamers who will talk endlessly about hardware and performance...but I couldn't tell you what games they played tbh.

Meanwhile I've just clocked 65 hours on Three Hopes. The Switch is truly ruining me for other platforms.

I used to play a lot of PC games during the Unreal / Half-Life / Command & Conquer days.
Can't be bothered with PC gaming anymore though. It's such a hassle compared to console gaming.

It is definitely less convenient, but it's so much better than it used to be. If you have a modern PC prebuilt, for the most part everything just works. Still have Windows 10 HDR issues so I had to disable that, but I never cared for HDR anyways so, doesn't feel like a loss.

My reason for preferring PC over the power consoles is gyro aiming. Though, XIM Nexus now makes gyro aiming on X1, XS and PS4 games possible. Either way I kinda don't play any of it anymore. Switch has forever changed my gaming habits to the point, if it's not on Switch, I'm probably not gonna play it. Unless it's a very special exception (like the next console Monster Hunter).

It's true PC gaming isn't as complicated anymore as it used to be but it's still expensive. A proper gaming laptop costs north of €1000 (don't have the space for a desktop PC).
And just like you, the Switch changed my gaming habits as well. Ever since I owned one, I've had no urge to buy any other console or go back to PC gaming. It's such a handy little device.

Ya know, my initial motivation in buying all the consoles and PC was, I didn't want to miss out on anything.

But what I've found is, if it's not on Switch, I don't feel like I'm missing out anymore because I've lost all desire to experience games on a non-hybrid device. No matter how good the game, I just lose interest. It's nothing against other platforms because they're great. It's one of those, "it's not you, it's me" things. My whole life I've played both consoles and handhelds. But ever since 2017, once experiencing that freedom of having console with tabletop and handheld... Idk. Games that don't offer that freedom just lose their luster.

It might seem cliche but if ever there was something that was a true gamechanger for me, the launch of the Switch hybrid would be it.

Meanwhile for me I like to experience from almost every single Nintendo and PlayStation machines. The only retro Nintendo machine I skipped just N64 due to lack of interesting games for me, I have no longer interest with NES and SNES games anymore. I played GBA, NDS, 3DS, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U and Switch games for Nintendo machines. And for PlayStation machines, I played PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP games and start to build PS5 games collection. Every machines are different and have their signature games so I like to play them. And with so many video game machines I have, it felt I have mini arcade at home so I can always pick whichever machine to play depend on my mood.

@skywake It's a popular hobby. Most people don't know what they are talking about when enjoying something mainstream because they do it because their friends are doing it, simple fun and it's the cool thing to do. I would just sidestep those types of arguments if I were you. Otherwise you would just have a headache everyday.

Well I did my part. I own all of those games except like 3 of them.

Those are really good sales for Fire Emblem. One single release and its absolutely going to crack 4 mil? That's as big as Persona 5, which sold 5.5 mil but across 2 platforms with an extra expanded release that basically accounted for an extra 2 mil.

And over 4 mil for DKC? Finally, DKC gets his due. That's pretty good for a Wii U port. But it's the best 2D platformer of all time. It deserves it, and more.

Just seeing Bayo 2 over a mil gives me hope Bayo 3 can double it, in the due course of time.

Xenoblade 2 likely would have done more than 2.4 if the physical version hadn't run out of print. But Xenoblade 3 has a good shot at breaking 3 mil I think. Dare I say, even rival Fire Emblem Three Houses?

@JaxonH, hope XC2 can hit 2.5 mil by next year. It's unreal that it's still putting up respectable numbers 4-5 years after it's release (according to that list it outsold XC:DE last year alone, 270,000 copies to 200,000 copies, despite DE only being a year old at the time).
