@Ralizah Yep! I am stuck on a few of the DLC unlocks and I think I am missing one character but having the dlc from the get go really helps keep the game from being grindy, but there is a LOT to do in this game. They do a mix of fetch quests and actual levels and I have to say I am glad for the fetch quests, there really is a lot to do. When I got to end credits I was like “oh I’ll clean up what’s left…wait why are more quests popping up?! Aww crap, there is post game…” and unlike katanakami where the post game was so insane that it put me off the game (Mahoroba is too long) I am still happily bouncing around and finishing quests.

Something seems up with Mario Party Superstars matchmaking, for some reason only the MP1 boards (Yoshi's Tropical Island, Peach's Birthday Cake) appear.
Random thing I realized recently, is that of the Nintendo games on Switch that I've played, a lot of them are 3rd place out of their series for me. Mario Odyssey is my 3rd favorite 3D Mario platformer, BOTW is my 3rd favorite 3D Zelda (though Wind Waker HD is so close it might be my next favorite game out of all games I've ever played), Metroid Dread is 3rd place for 2D Metroids. They remade my favorite 2D Zelda, which is only behind...two other Zelda games in general. Astral Chain is my 3rd favorite Platinum game and Luigi's Mansion games for me are basically a tie, so technically that counts? Also Animal Crossing, though the DLC might make it 2nd based on basically adding my 2nd favorite Animal Crossing to the game.
This wouldn't stand out to me but I've not played a majority of Nintendo's Switch games (for that matter, I played BOTW on Wii U, but its not like the Switch version would fundamentally change my opinion on it anyway). Just an odd coincidence that's been happening, and I doubt will continue.
@Grumblevolcano
That is weird. My daughter play every now and then, so I'll keep a look out.
@kkslider5552000
That is definitely interesting. For me, it might be most Switch games are my second favorites. Odyssey is absolutely wonderful, but I still can't overcome the amazingness and nostalgia of Mario 64 (and yes, I did play it again on the 3D Collection, so not just those rose-colored glasses lol). I hated BotW initially, but it gets better every time I replay it. I'd still put it behind Ocarina, though. And my favorite Luigi's Mansion is still Dark Moon, but 3 comes right after.
Whereas for me, as someone who wasn’t a Nintendo kid, I am getting a taste of a lot of Nintendo first party stuff for the very first time. I think it is a real shame Nintendo doesn’t better preserve and make available it’s back catalogue of first party titles. I’ve now had a taste of a lot of franchises on my Switch which have a rich history of titles that have never made it off the original systems they were launched on. I feel like this is a big slice of pie Nintendo are missing out on.
That’s the sound of me breathing a sigh of relief, as I have finally figured out a way to get a pro controller on Switch with quality gyro, quality rumble and a quality d-pad, that still wakes the system.
The 8bitdo adapter makes the Dualshock 4 compatible if you turn on “Wired Communication” (it’s still wireless, it just needs that on to function). Gyro? Check. Rumble? Check. Quality d-pad? Check. It’s all there. It even wakes the system!
@Pizzamorg
They’ve actually sold a crap ton of their old games, or made them available in one way or another, it just doesn’t seem to be all consolidated on Switch (which is what most of us want). Wii U in particular had all these platforms games available: NES, SNES, N64, Wii, Wii U, GBA, DS, TG16, Genesis, and if you modded the Wii OS mode (very easy to do) you could enable GameCube to run natively.
They sold all the GBA Fire Emblems, the DS Fire Emblem, and 3DS with its BC had 2 DS Fire Emblem games + 3 3DS Fire Emblem games, and Switch got the first Fire Emblem localized after 3 decades.
Add in all the NES minis, SNES minis, Game & Watches, Switch Online games, remakes and remasters, and there’s actually not much they haven’t touched. There’s some gaping holes, namely GameCube, and that is frustrating for sure. There’s a lot more they could do if they wanted, but I do think they make more of their back catalog available then a lot of people give them credit for. Problem is, we want it all on Switch, and they seem to have more of a revolving door policy, a little here, a little there, a bit this gen, a bit next gen…
Perhaps Switch 2 will finally offer GameCube. And if not, I recommend just running Dolphin on the SteamDeck and checking out Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (GC), Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn (Wii), F-Zero GX (GC) Paper Mario Thousand Year Door (GC), and Super Paper Mario (Wii). The Metroid Prime games will get remastered, surely, as will Zelda Windwaker and Twilight Princess. We already got Mario Galaxy.

Yeah, that is the thing. I appreciate I can go back and buy some older generation consoles to play the titles or I can just get an emulator or something (but I’m not a huge fan of piracy, even muddled grey area piracy).
I just think if we live in a world where your Series X allows you to basically play almost every game from the original gen to present, even random crap you’ve probably never even heard of, Nintendo should at least allow us to access their first party stuff on their current device. I get that things are probably more complicated for Nintendo because they often use gimmicks for titles (dual screens, motion controls, whatever) but that is why I am saying that fine, if you can’t make everything available, first party at least. Surely with all their resources they can have a backwards compatibility team in the same way Xbox does, who make a point to get old games running the best they can on existing systems.
At best here you either seem to need to wait for rereleases charged at full price, buy an old console or subscribe to a subscription service, otherwise you’re ***** out of luck. Just feels bad. And I just feel like there is a whole avenue of untapped money for Nintendo here, too.
@Pizzamorg
Actual machine is still my reasons to get older games as the games library = 100% complete and i can pick any titles to be played on actual hardware while the BC from Series X/S are not 100% compatible with certain games (the unpopular, the games with license brands, the niche games).
You cannot even play Barbie games / Spongebob games / DDR games from OG XBOX on Series X/S, that's why i felt disappointed. But, i can play All Gamecube games on my Wii machine as long the games region are same with my Wii region machine.
Btw, i still prefer 3rd party games than 1st party games even on every Nintendo games i have.
The DualSense works! WITH gyro! WITH rumble! WITH wakeup!
You don’t understand. Let me explain why this is such a massive win. The DualSense is the first and only controller to include a magnetometer for gyro to prevent drift, similar to how a compass orients itself to the North Pole. The DualSense is THE controller to use for gyro, no ifs, ands or buts. While it is true many games are fine with current gyro due to only fine tuning aim, the added repeatability still helps and, comes in clutch for games imitating pointer controls, such as Pikmin 3 Deluxe, or Mario Galaxy.
This is a momentous day. Maybe this has been a thing for a while, but nobody has talked about it, and today is the day I learned of it. So today, December 20th in the Year of Our Lord 2021, I officially declare as Gyro Independence Day. We made it. We finally made it. Our journey is over. Rest, kick your feet up, and enjoy the fruits of this new era of gyro aiming. We now have magnetometer-assisted gyro on Switch, Steam and PS5. The promised land.

@JaxonH The DS4 was the first controller I connected to my Switch with the 8bitdo adapter when I got it a couple of years back, but... I dunno. Never felt right to me, for some reason. Which is weird, because it's a controller I really enjoy using on PC and PS4. Not sure why it never clicked for me when using it on Switch.
It's a useful little gadget, though. My Wii U Pro controller spent years rotting in a corner before I got it, but it has been amazing for multiplayer game sessions with my mother since I connected it to the system via that adapter.
I have an extra DS4 I haven't been using on anything. Maybe I should connect it to my Switch and try using it as a proper controller again.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Pizzamorg It's far from almost every game from the OG Xbox and 360 lineups available on XB1/Series X|S but they still managed to get a very impressive collection available. The closest Nintendo got to something like that level of backwards compatibility was on Wii U where Wii discs worked and you had VC for a selection of NES/SNES/N64/GBA/DS/TG-16 games.
I feel in terms of the current systems, I'd rank the handling of legacy content as Series X|S > Switch > PS5. I rank Switch above PS5 for legacy content because while PS5 does play PS4 games, PS1-3 is almost completely absent (you have some games that were ported or remade for PS4 and some remakes for PS5 like Demon's Souls) meanwhile Switch has a more balanced handling of legacy content despite only a selection of Wii U games available.
If Sony manages to get PS1-3 games on PS5 in the future however, Switch drops to dead last in terms of handling legacy content.
@Ralizah
It's definitely useful. I never had luck with these adapters, such as Magic-NS. This is the first time I've had one where everything worked, wireless and Gyro and rumble and wake up included.
Not sure if you have a Pro Controller, but for me, it's so good it makes everything else feel subpar by comparison, at least in terms of ergonomics. The d-pad and Gyro is perfectly serviceable, but when playing fighters, PS controller is a bit better.
Knowing how much you value Gyro, I think you'd appreciate the Dualsense on Switch as much as I do. The rumble doesn't feel anything special when used on Switch, but it's at least as good as DS4 on Switch. That Gyro though...

@JaxonH I got a Pro Controller after figuring out I didn't really like the DS4 on Switch.
One thing that really bugged me was the rumble. I had to turn the rumble off in Splatoon 2, for example, because leaving it on would cause the thing to shake violently any time I fired my weapon in that game, because the motors in the DS4 don't allow for the sort of fine-tuned feedback you get with HD Rumble.
For games that require a D-Pad, I'll use 8bitdo's superb M30 controller, when possible. It's the best thing ever for retro games because of how awesome the D-Pad is. And fully workable now that you can remap controllers you connect to the Switch.
@Ralizah
I wish Nintendo would release Elite controllers, both Joycon and Pro.
Had to buy Dpad modded joycon, which work great, but the right joycon's rumble was way too loud and uneven. Thankfully my white right joycon from OLED matches the left d-pad, and have equal rumble.
Ordered a custom Switch Pro controller with Xbox Elite style analogs that magnetically attach with 3 different types. Quality controllers are hard to come by- PS and Xbox have tons of custom shops but not so much for Switch. And 3rd party options are paltry, with not a single one offering linear transducers for HD rumble. Heck, you're lucky if the controllers even have rumble at all, even the $100 Power A controller lacks rumble and uses the same Alps analog sticks as Xbox Elite Controller and Dualsense, all of which have serious drifting issues (no controller is safe nowadays). Either that or they're wired. Every company from here to China trying to sell wired Switch controllers like its 1993.

Honestly I wish the industry in general did a better job of preserving the 6th generation era. Sega is probably the best at it with Dreamcast content available on Steam, but even then it could be better. Nintendo is the worst offender, with most GameCube games not having seen a re-release of any kind. We only recently got Sunshine again if that tells you anything. The botched GTA Trilogy release certainly didn't help things when it comes to that generation either, considering those are easily 3 of the most iconic games from that generation.
That being said, that era is mired by licensing issues and so many titles won't ever see a re-release as a result.
The bright side is, there really isn't much worth revisiting from Nintendo on 6th gen that hasn't been released already or gotten a sequel that makes it irrelevant.
Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were on Wii and again on Wii U, Pikmin 1 and 2 on Wii and again on Wii U, Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii and Wii U, Zelda Windwaker on Wii U, Luigi's Mansion on 3DS, Mario Sunshine on Switch, Animal Crossing is superceded now, Ikaruga is on Switch, Monkey Ball 1 and 2 and Deluxe are on Switch...
We just need Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, F-Zero GX, Baten Kaitos, and maybe a few oddballs like WaveRace, 1080, Kirby Air Ride and Idk, maybe Battalion Wars.
That's not to say I don't want them all on Switch. That would be much more preferable to spread out over other systems. Just saying, it's not like they haven't re-released a good number of them.
