@Knuckles-Fajita Completely agreed. I'm not going to give Sony any credit whatsoever, since they earn less than none for their antagonistic stalling antics concerning this very topic. And on top of that, lying and talking BS about the reasons they had for not joining the initiative.
Ultimately, they were more or less forced to comply, seeing as they had the market against them, and more consumers demanded it as well. Consumers they said they wanted to "protect" or "give a better experience", and according to them, that could only be done while keeping their customers on their own platform. What a load of crock...
And the Microsoft thing, well... they probably did have a bit of a laugh about Sony's antics, but the connection with Nintendo was already there, to some extent, so I don't think they joined the cross platform to get a leg up on Sony. Even after Microsoft took over Rare, there have been several instances where they've either cooperated with Nintendo, or allowed them to use certain characters, so I don't think it was too much of an issue for them, to work together to make this possible.
And Sony? They're just royally late to the party, and what they're doing is nothing more or less than grudgingly agreeing with something that was simply inevitable, so the industry dictated it to them, far as we know now.
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
It was basically a reverse PS4 reveal situation, instead of Sony making fun of Microsoft for the anti-consumer policies of the XB1 you had Microsoft and Nintendo making fun of Sony for the anti-consumer policies of the PS4.
I give MS credit for reversing course after the X1 reveal. They were basically forced in that situation as well, but I still give them credit for reversing course in doing a 180. Better late than never and regardless of the reasons, The bottom line is they changed course. Even if they did it for the wrong reasons, they did it. Not every company does that. Some stubbornly dig their heels in to the ground and double down. So I have no issue giving credit when a company reverses course, even if it was only due to pressure.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
@JaxonH Well, I guess you're a VERY forgiving kinda guy then, which certainly speaks in your favor.
But industry-wise, this was basically a back to the wall, pants down and gun to your head kinda situation. Like continuing to swim upstream in a raging river, and only allowing the current to finally take you back down again, if you are too weak to continue, and you can see no other option anymore than giving in and throwing your hands up in defeat...
If you then say: "oh, okay, okay... we'll play along, but please don't shoot us", then you don't deserve any credit at all, only ridicule far as I'm concerned. Credit is due for something positive that ADDS to a situation in an early stage, not late to the party, when most if not all of the cows have already gone home.
And it's also not like they really wanted to, and had they been able to avoid it, I would probably have safely been able to bet a year's income over them having chosen to do so, and stalling the situation even more.
So, this may have ultimately indeed added to the situation, but first, on several instances and with several games, they DID do the digging their heels in thing. One time is okay, two times is questionable/shady, three times is three strikes: you're out.
And they did it FOUR times, so any and all possible credit they might have been able to gain to FINALLY bend the knee and comply had already evaporated a long time ago...
And besides that: at least be enough of a man/company to clarify the ACTUAL reasons, and don't hand out some PR/media crap that nobody with even half a brain in his head will believe.
Id be curious to see what Microsoft have in mind for the next generation and what possibilities could arise from a further improved relationship between themselves and Nintendo. I am not saying Halo on Switch and Mario on Xbox but i definitely think there is the potential for cooperation between the two and that both would stand to benefit from it.
Also thanks for all of the YouTube suggestions added a lot of great channels and it is making the lulls on the night shifts a lot more tolerable. Id love to be able to play the Switch but i have a dirty job and i could not handle seeing it get filthy!!
Can we take a second to appreciate just how good RemiLore looks? It seems like a Diablo 3 style game, with really good visuals and combat. I’m taken aback by how good this game looks because it just seemed like another dime a dozen game the first time I heard of it. But now that I’m beginning to see gameplay I’m thinking this is one it’s going to be a sleeper hit. She has a talking spell book that has a mouth... seems very Nintendo-esque
@ReaderRagfihs
I’d love to say yes but, after beating Ahtal-ka with my brother, having played through all of G rank with him, and then running some post game content for a while, I moved on.
I do plan on coming back from time to time though.

Goodness me, the amount of grudge I'm seeing above for Microsoft announcing a plan and then u-turning on that plan is cringe inducing. Get over it, it's not like Microsoft ****ed your mom, and even if it had, she'd have loved it.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@ThanosReXXX@subpopz I also just saw how Sony has handled the Dreams beta and locking people from talking about it...which is the OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU SHOULD DO!
I'm glad I made Swutch my primary system because Sony seems to havw face first into 2012 Nintendo levels of duh

Haha. Yeah, it was within like a week iirc. Personally, I’ve never had issues with their gaming division. In fact, I’ve probably had just as much enjoyment on the Xbox line as I have with Nintendo.

@Knuckles-Fajita To be honest, that game has been in development for so long, and so little seems to have been shared that I get the feeling Media Molecule did a No Man's Sky/Peter Molyneux and promised more than they could realistically achieve. Sony not allowing beta testers to talk about it suddenly doesn't fill me with confidence,

The Nintenod swutch is awesome! Have you played Super Maria Odyssey yet?
Goes to show the importance of competition. Would Sony have been so Pro-consumer at PS4 launch without their PS3 struggles? Would MS have been so generous with BC, Crossplay, Play Anywhere egg. if Sony weren’t eating their lunch? We’ll never know but it’s doubtful.
