Topic: What do you most want from the Nintendo NX?

My 'good outcome scenario' for the NX is that the home console plays the handheld games in HD. I hope that the consolidation of the home and handheld developers combined with a reasonable amount of success and support from third parties will give Nintendo the funds and the breathing room to really put a lot of effort into their games this time around - so Splatoon 2 doesn't disappoint, Mariokart gets a proper battle mode, 3d Mario doesn't just feel like a bunch of levels put on a disc... I want Nintendo to put some real effort into World-building this time. Move away from the sticker star, gameplay-is-the-only-thing model and give me some tiny reason to care about what the characters are doing. I don't need all of my games to be interactive movies (though that's nice sometimes), but I do need something. Mario galaxy's Rosalina storybook is all it takes. Shantae delivered on gameplay and had a story running through it, which was great. Splatoon's secret scrolls were perfect. Mario 3D World is soulless, shiny, superficial, forgettable. I want Nintendo to get away from that.

That's what I want from the NX. That and more FPS/TPSs with Splatoon gyro aiming.

Super Paper Racer "CaRPG" with special Amiibo for unique body types.

Could look something like this...

Edit: Okay, so that link really popped, not sure if that's allowed but if the link's deleted check Youtube for "ChoroQ Works".

...I could imagine it with revolving sprites for trees but sprites that have textures that move across them as they revolve to give the player the sense that they're actually passing a 3D object...not sure if that would just look really weird or if it would work (probably not a good idea) but...just a thought.

Actually...basically would just want it to look like the above but in HD and with Nintendo's quality finish.

Either that or a cell-shaded, 3D, origami world .

P.S. Would also have to, without a shadow of a doubt, have manual transmissions as an optional car part...

...mix and match car parts to tune the car to the tracks (high acceleration gear boxes for twisty tracks, high top speed for straighter tracks, monster-truck tires to get across rocky terrain, grapnel-winches to climb steep hills etc.)

For Nintendo to muster the courage to reveal it.

Im hoping for a late September reveal but knowing how tight Nintendos keeping their lips right now, that might not be likely and we will have to wait till later. They better not wait till January of next year for the reveal. That would take too long. The thing I want out of the NX is great software. I feel like the Wii U didnt get enough games for it just like everyone else did. Im excited to see what the system looks like as well.

Its dangerous to go alone take this.

@Bluefiregamer tbh don't be surprised if March 2017 actually means November 2017.

@Marce2240 Think about how the investors would've reacted if November 2017 was confirmed? Also Nintendo fans would be lining up to purchase a PS4 Neo or XB1.

@Grumblevolcano The current situation is bad enough as it is. I don't want to think Kimi and co. are detached from reality enough to have considered that scenario.

They're detached enough from reality to go through with leaving their lineup empty for two holiday seasons. Delaying the NX to November isn't outside of the realm of possibility.

Yeah not saying it will happen, I don't think it will but I'm saying I wouldn't be surprised. Dunno if you noticed yet but Nintendo lives in its own little world mentally.

CM30

A good old standard home console with a decent level of technical power, lots of third party support, a good online system and lots of great Nintendo games.

No/few gimmicks. Not a hybrid console. Nothing even remotely related to the Wii, especially in branding.

That's all I want.

Delaying the NX until November would piss of the "ALREADY PISSED OFF" Nintendo fans about the Zelda delay and ultimately loose more trust from us then if they release it in March. Personally, I don't wanna wait any longer than March, but if Nintendo decides to delay it, there is not much anyone can do about it. In the meantime I will just be over here stashing money until the NX drops on the market.

@Bluefiregamer well the can't live on 3ds forever. The 3ds well is gonna dry up eventually. Kimishima and co have to talk about, reveal and release the NX someday. They can't keep putting it off.

@Marce2240 I don't think that's a smart move to make. A big chunk of those 12 million people are the loyal fans that are likely to buy their next system at launch, regardless of what games come with it. You really want those people to be there at launch. Chances of convincing anyone else to buy a new system at launch are much slimmer.

I have another theory about why the NX is not being shown off at E3. Namely, Nintendo is deciding whether to ditch the UK and/or Europe in general of which their choice depends on the outcome of Brexit in the UK.

Grumblevolcano

FragRed

@Grumblevolcano I very much doubt that has anything to do with the situation. Whether or not the UK remains in the EU won't do much to Nintendo's desire to remain selling in the UK and Europe as a whole or not. Any company that wants to trade with the UK should it leave will still do so and many have plans in place for such an outcome.

@FragRed Microsoft has already stated that UK leaving the EU will negatively impact UK customers.

This is Nintendo we're talking about here. We know what we're getting; sequels to the same games since the N64 era. A 3D Mario, some 2D yoshi / kirby / DK/ mario games, a zelda or two, Animal Crossing, smash bros, mario party, mario kart, a pokemon game of sorts, some other mario sports games, and maybe they'll throw in a semi-surprise like a Metroid, F-Zero, etc. And we'll probably get a new Splatoon at some point.

I'm more hopeful with regards to what he console will actually be i.e. I'm hoping for a home console / handheld hybrid where I can play the exact same games and system on the big screen AND take with me on the go. That way have the next generation console to eventually replace my XBox 360 and PS Vita.

OH, and I would also hope for a hybrid because, unless handheld is in there somewhere, there's NO WAY Nintendo will be getting any 3rd party support.

However, I'm hoping that they DON'T add any stupid gimmicks this time round. Not crazy pad designs or gimmicky ways to play games. Either a standard controller or a standard handheld system. All gimmicky ideas are optional extras ala the PS Move, Kinect, etc.

If the NX is the successor to both the Wii U and 3DS it's gonna pull both audiences together.

You would have access to the whole Nintendo catalogue without the need of having two systems.
You could take the console out on the streets like a Newer New 3DS, and you could plug it into the TV at home to play it like the next newest home console.

The games wouldn't be divided anymore, resulting in more games for everyone,
and the fans wouldn't be divided anymore: the fact is there are lots of users only interested in home consoles and probably even more only interested in handheld gaming (at the moment at least).
...well, there's still the regional thing, but that's a different separation.

Also, the console sales wouldn't be divided anymore. If you add the sales of Wii U and 3DS together Nintendo is still up there as the console market leader, besides of dying so much.

The possible VR extension is another thing that could take off with exclusive games that would make sense (first person/cockpit games) like F-Zero VR, Cruis'n Adventure, and Metroid Prime VR. The NX could then receive Oculus Rift and PS4 VR ports as well.

If this turns out to be real, there's still the question, how much will it cost? How long will the batteries last in such a powerful HHH (handheld-homeconsole-hybrid)?
