@Lazz You are welcome, I don't have any experience with the Nitro Deck, but I am sure you will not be disappointed with the Mobapad! Just keep in mind that they use mechanical buttons and so they are clicky, but they are not very loud.
@jon128 Finally got home and managed to try the button mapping on the Mobapad M6 HD. Looks like it works fine via the Switch settings - recognises them as regular joycons as far as I can tell.
I use a pro controller, the official Nintendo one. I also have the Joy-Cons I got with the system and a spare pair of Joy-Cons in event they start to drift, but I rarely use them unless I'm doing the rare two player game, or using the Joy-Con wheel.
I also have an old PowerA Yoshi controller that's wired, but that's become a spare controller ever since I got the pro controller.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
I've had the Mobapad M6 HD for a few months now, and it's pretty much the best controller I've ever had, not just for the Switch but for any platform. Since I got it, I've done all my PC gaming with it too, since using a Joycon style split controller is more comfortable and ergonomic for my arms than holding one controller in the middle.
I rarely use TV mode and prefer to use handheld mode to lay in bed and play, so I use joycon usually and haven't picked up the pro controller in a long time
But joycon is uncomfortable to hold, breaks easily (I've broken two pairs already), and is too expensive (don't want to buy a new joycon for fear it will break again).
So I'm now using the Luminous joycon from funlab, which has most of the common features of third-party controllers, comfortable to hold, is lower in price than joycon, and very beautiful (important). Mine hasn't broken so far.
When we first got the Switch and we only had 1 pair of Joy-cons, we used OG Game Cube controllers hooked up through a 3rd party Game Cube Adapter we had for our Wii U. But that doesn't seem to work anymore.
Since then, we've picked up more Joy-Cons, but . . .
I also picked up a couple of 8BitDo GBros adapters so we can use our Game Cube controllers or our Wii Wired Fight Pad controllers as well.
I also picked up an 8BitDo SN30 Pro a while back, and that is one of my favourite controllers.
And . . . I picked up the recent 8BitDo Game Cube mod kit.
I had a broken Game Cube controller (had a broken / fractured joystick) so I figured, why they heck not. Super simple to install. It has clicky sticks so I can play more games with it than our OG Game Cube controllers, but probably can't play everything. But when everyone comes over and want to play Mario Kart or Super Smash . . . that is probably the controller that everyone is going to want to grab.
RE: NYXI Warrior . . . I read about that when NintendoLife did the review about it. It sounds awesome. I totally want one. But I'm currently full-up on controllers right now. But I wouldn't rule me out of getting one down the road. LOL.
Just a heads up for all you Mobapad fans: they have a Black Friday sale on their site until the 3rd of Dec. with -50% off of all accessories. I ordered the special carry case that fits the Switch and the Mobapad M6 joycons for 13 dollars, which is a pretty sweet deal.
This is gonna be the most nothing-burger post on here, but I have to give my props to the official Switch pro controller. I've been using a pro controller since very early on, and have rarely deviated from them. As someone who tends to knock stuff off his desk all the time, there's barely a scratch on mine. Seriously, these things are built like freight trains, they can take a beating, feel great in my hands, and have a great battery life! Meanwhile I worry that just bumping my joy-cons the wrong way will make them burst at the seams. If I had to give one gripe with them, like others have said, the d-pad is kinda crummy. Sometimes it feels like when I press down one direction, it'll press another at the same time. That's the one consistent thing with all of the pro controllers I've went through that I haven't liked. Thankfully though, I rarely use the d-pad. Even when I do, I just use the joy-cons. While it'd be neat to see a revision of the pro control model for the next system, if only for the sake of variety, it'd also be great to be able to use the ones I already have! They've served me well throughout this past generation!

That is one of the benefits I've found with having different types of controllers.
When I'm playing a game that really uses the d-pad, I'll grab my 8BitDo SN30 Pro for its great d-pad. I find this great for the retro games.
When playing a game where I'm mashing down the "A" button, instead of using the Joy Cons where the small little "A" button starts to hurt my thumb, I'll grab my Game Cube Controller (or Wired Fight Pad) with their big thumb-friendly "A" button.
The official Splatoon 2(As much as i could care less about the franchise) Pro Controller, and depending on the title if i wan't less input lag, or better HD Rumble(It can go either way between both controllers) and the stubby analog stick(Which makes for a decent D-pad alternative) positioned 'up top', I'll switch over to the Joy-cons + Controller Shell grip. I've got the launch Neon Blue & Red, Splatoon 2 Pink & Green, and currently have my eye on the Pastel Yellow/Pink joy-con's.
Gen Z, and 'baby' millennials seem to call that combination the Sponge bob/Patrick.
