@AKayzy Lecturing them about loyalty since the 80's doesn't do much unless it's documented to them. And 1 yr warranty is manufacturer defects or hardware issues not issues caused by user. What we don't know is why Nintendo would say you have to pay to get it fixed? If that was hardware I doubt they would say that. I know I heard of some in the beginning but some were not hardware defects. I had mine since the Midnight release and I take care to insert the cartridges in when using it as well. Also if it is repaired by 3rd party and not Nintendo then you can incur repair charges if that doesn't qualify for Nintendo repair as well.

I did have bad experiences with Nintendo three times including my Wii twice... plus the gamepad for the Wii U. I didn't know the NFC is broken for an long time for Wii U because the amiibo haven't come out yet in times.

Of courses its my fault that I found out the Wii U gamepad NFC is broken when there's no NFC products is available yet in Canada. /s

Now I been fixing Nintendo products myself out of 3rd party parts and so far its a lot cheaper and better than sending them in to Nintendo. I mean the warranty is out every single times anyway.

So, these people complaining about customer services probably telling an truth. I do think its lame that we have to pay for warranty for products simply because its their faults for making an defects in their products. Lucky for me, Nintendo have an about year warranty for those products but I have found other products' warranty last much longer than Nintendo.

Umm… Care to have some gravy?

All companies can choose how to apply these and in this instance I think they got it wrong.

Of course you think they got it wrong, because it's not the answer you wanted.

As for the cost, what you're really paying for is labor.

The only major issue I have with their repair process/warranty is their inability to change broken components on limited edition models (happened to my pikachu XL) even when they have available components (like screens). In the case of the OP, it sucks, but the warranty expired, so there is not much to be said about the matter. Had it been under warranty, I would agree with you.

Timely since I just sent my Switch in for repair on a common issue(not reading joycons). They're like "You damaged it, pay us $115.49" so I paid it, they fixed it and they're sending it back.
I probably did damage it, so it is what it is.
