Topic: Vanilla Xcom 2 or War of the Chosen for first playthrough?

Finally bought Xcom 2 on Switch during the recent sale and am thinking of starting it this weekend. My question is, should I start with War of the chosen or not?

A quick google just led me to countless posts on Reddit with players seeming to be split down the middle. Some are saying start with the vanilla version and learn the systems first as WOTC is too hard, others are saying WOTC adds loads and should be played first as its the superior version.

So, any suggestions? I'm really keen to start this game but don't want to put a load of time into one version and either be missing out on content, or becoming frustrated and giving it up because its a complete overload of information!

Thanks for getting back to me! That’s good to know. Had you played Xcom before or was it your first time?

@Kasma88
i did not buy it for switch, i preferred the mobile version because it was made by feral interactive they are amazing in doing ports well optimized and without any bug , i already finished my first campaign with the WOTC and it was perfect fine even for the first time, yes there are a lot of info and staff if you never played xcom 2 the first time, but after 2-3 hours i was already into it and beside the expansion add a lot of good staff ,weapons and enemies and a lot more way to counter the death clock (and it will give you some advanced option in the menu to make the game easier like adding more time turn in the timed mission or double the death clock in the campaign or to make the game harder as well)

I’d not heard about the difficulty options in the menu, sounds great. After what you’ve said I reckon I’ll go for playing WOTC and see how I get on. Thanks again, I appreciate it!
