I am moving to Ireland in a week and want to be able to take my switch with me. I am just wondering if it would work charging with the voltage wise. I have an adaptor, but do I also need a converter? Thank you.
Your Switch charger should have written on it somewhere a range of input voltages that it can accept. If 230v is within that range it should be ok to just use an adaptor. My European one says 100-240v.
If you're in any doubt though I'd say use a voltage converter, or just buy an Irish charger once you're over there.
@kazoowho You can always ask someone at Nintendo about using the Canadian Switch AC adapter with an adapter plug in the UK. Nintendo has very good customer service (unlike some big companies).
@kazoowho an adaptor will do, you only need a transformer or convertor for someting big like a hard drive or suroundsound system.a switch is not that big so an adaptor is all you need. but as you might have seen or heard switch have some problems,. i have mine, new, 7 months and i have just sent it to be repaired.
As others mentioned check with Nintendo support to insure you get the right adapter to buy to use in Ireland as they have different ratings. Or get those travel charger adapter for international use those should have the correct adapters to use as well. Look at Amazon to see what adapter you need when going to Ireland...make sure to get a portable one as well not one that stays in the room only so you have a way to charge your Switch when you need it.
@kazoowho in line with what @Northwind said, maybe you can buy a new cord from Nintendo UK's site. I'm assuming ireland has same plugs as the rest of UK? (I'm in the US, making my best guess)
