hello! I'm intending to purchase a new Nintendo Switch and on my old switch, I have 2 users, one's mine and the other, my brother's. So naturally, the 2 users are linked to separate nintendo accounts with our respective emails on the old switch. When I first bought my switch, I was unable to access the nintendo EShop through my account and my brother with his account, somehow managed to access the EShop and from then on, I have been purchasing games on the EShop through my brother's user. I understand the process of transferring data from one switch to another requires you to login the user's linked nintendo account on the new switch but due to personal reasons, I am unable to acquire my brother's nintendo account. Does this mean that the games will not be brought over if only my nintendo account(user) is transferred since I cannot present the nintendo account's password of my brother's when attempting to transfer his user data to the new switch?
@zazen15 Every eshop purchase is tied to the email/account of the user that bought it - sounds like your brother, in this case. If you want to move onto your own switch, you'll need to buy each game for that switch. As you've seen, all users on a Switch can access the games bought on that Switch, but if you want your own Switch, you'll have to buy copies of the games .
You can share cartridges, but the game only works when inserted into the console.(game save data is not stored on the cartridge)
Side note, there are a handful of games that do not permit transferring the game save file to another Switch. Animal Crossing is one of those games.
