I had a sort of double take moment when I heard "game freak" myself. It is good to see them break from pokemon just like it is good to see square do something other than final fantasy.
From what I can tell thus far it sounds promising. When the game map is small, there is bound to be tons of things in that small area. I suspect it will use town building aspects to upgrade shops, resources and defense against monsters and such. Keeping an eye on this one, and since game freak are very solid I will probably day1 buy it. Need more original and new JRPG games on switch, and this is an answer to that.
The story is what matters for this kind of game. I wish they told us more than just ''SUDDENLY MONSTERS ATTACK VILLAGE'' This literally sums it up. I wonder if it's in any way based on Town of Salem? Also known as Werewolf/Mafia. They are similar in that they only take place in a single town and there being mysterious attacks.
Ehh, when I heard Game Freak was making a new RPG, it caught my attention, but after seeing some game-play, it lost it. It doesn't stand out to me in any way. Kinda hoped that the people known for Pokemon would have made an RPG where you at least play as "monsters".
The fact it's a (quite large) isolated area, makes me wonder if the Pokémon 3D RPG will have more of a Monster Hunter Generations map (Looking much nicer of course.). Instead of a massive BotW map, more a case of large inter-connected areas that will allow a way of progression from area to area.
(I also like how the water in the stream isn't just flat. Pet hate of mine that lol)
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@GrailUK Of course, that's assuming the game will be any different from a traditional thing. For all we know it's like Let's Go, but in a new region, with new Pokemon.
IF it's something radically different, then yes, I still expect something more traditional, and not an big open sandbox like BOTW.

Honestly, this is the part that gives me some hope actually. They aren't trying to make another Pokemon.
To me that means that this game might be free of the issues Pokemon games tend to have, most notably the awkward juvenile story in a game that was never designed to convey story.
To me, it sounds like I will actually get a chance to know the characters in the town since I'm spending so much time there.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
Well into 2019 and still no updates on this game. Eagerly waiting for any info since the tease in the direct, it looks very promising to me. So strange we haven't heard a single buzz ever since
@Bankaj Possibly E3 material, Town isn't the only game from that Direct we haven't heard anything about since (Luigi's Mansion 3 and Animal Crossing also haven't had any news since).
