I'm about 5ish hours into Metroid Dread so far, and I gotta say, I am LOVING it. The movement is fantastic, the pacing is super quick, and the exploration is amazing. Not to mention the great graphics and sound design.
I think the one area where I'm a little disappointed is in the music. It's great in its own right in that it's very atmospheric and creepy, but it doesn't quite have that "Metroidy" music that I guess I was kinda hoping for, with catchy melodies and whatnot. They've absolutely nailed the atmosphere with this game, though.
The bosses are also some of the best out of any Metroid game I've played. I love that a lot of them are sort of like a puzzle, you need to figure out their patterns and what you need to do, instead of just shooting them like crazy.
What are your guys' thoughts on what you've played so far? Try to keep it spoiler-free, since I and many others haven't yet finished it.
I haven't beaten it yet, but right now I love it. It's turning out to be one of the best Metroid games so far, right next to the likes of Super Metroid and Metroid Prime. The exploration is just as great as the other games, and they really nailed the horror aspect. I love a good Metroid game and this one did not disappoint in the slightest.
I've beaten Metroid Dread and would rank the initial run within my Top 5 Metroid experiences. It's no where near Metroid Prime Hunters at the top, but Dread could end up being my favorite traditional Metroid game as I go for 100% and replay for better completion times.
