I don't think many will be interested in this game as I am, since I do love the Smurfs. I do remember when Smurfs: Mission Vileaf was new, I remember some did play it. So just found out today that Microids and OSome Studios is making a sequel to the game.
Personally looking forward to this, Mission Vileaf is actually one of my favorite games, while I haven't played it on Switch, I have the PC version. They did a good job capturing the world of the cartoon, while making a good platformer IMHO. I'm confident in this game, honestly, because of the recent output, Smurfs fans have been getting some quality games.
The only thread I found was asking about Smurfs: Mission Vileaf reviews, so I'm choosing to make a new thread for this game.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Jhena You're welcome and I agree. Mission Vileaf became one of my favorite games. I loved how they paid attention to the series and made a good game. Walking around Smurf Village felt lively with all the Smurfs going about their day.
While I did play Mission Vileaf on PC, I did get Smurfs Kart on Switch (in other news, that one is coming to Xbox and PlayStation in August).
Smurfs and Vinleaf fan here. The first game was surprisingly competent. Probably the best Smurfs game out there and a pretty good 3d action platformer if at least to burn time to.
If they fix the few flaws of the original (make the collectibles unlock bonuses besides be a score, maybe add bosses, easier navigation in the smurf village like a map [I keep getting lost finding Handy's upgrade mushroom]. It would be amazing.
Watching this one.
Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.
@Snatcher That is correct. The Smurfizer (the gadget Handy makes for you) allows you to heal plants in a way similar to Sunshine. Think of the dark plants like the ink splatter, and the Smurfizer makes them green again by spraying them. You could even use the Smurfizer to glide via Jetpack-style, similar to FLUDD in Sunshine.
Hey this is smurftastic news! I liked my time with Vileaf so Iād be keen to try a sequel - especially if it had a 2p mode so I could smurf coop with my daughters.
I have to go back and finish Vileaf first, though. š

@Snatcher Me too, I have a feeling the sequel may be similar, unless they introduce a new gameplay mechanic to this one.
@Anti-Matter Had a feeling you'd like this news. I may go with PC again, I have a GOG copy of Mission Vileaf with the offline backup installer on a disc so I can always play it, even without Internet.
@Greatluigi That one is specifically Mission Vileaf, the first game. It's not an exact copy, but using the Smurfizer did give me Sunshine vibes. The whole gliding with it like a jetpack after getting an upgrade and turning plants back to normal gave me those vibes.
@alexwolf
Oh, about that.
When the upcoming 3rd party games get announced, I will hope for the PS4 / PS5 version possibility as I already disappointed with current 3rd party multi console games on Switch version that have downgraded quality with some of them are really unacceptable (code in box, partial download, poor downgraded quality, streaming only, etc).
So, the announcement of those 3rd party multi console games are my skipping stones to get more PS4 / PS5 games.
But if both of Switch and PS4 / PS5 have nearly same good quality, I might double dip them as long the games are interesting enough for me.
@Jhena Me too, albeit I'm not familiar with Asterix, I live in the US so I don't know much about that series. I'm very happy with their recent Smurfs games. I believe Smurfs are well known here because of the 80's cartoons and movies. I loved The Lost Village, which seems to be what the new games and the newer cartoons are based off of.
@alexwolf To be fair, I have the first game for PC. GOG has Mission Vileaf DRM-free. I do play Switch too, some of us do play more than one system, and I have the Smurfs racing game on Switch, as well as many other games.
Big fan of The Smurfs. They were actually my first love when I was a kid (I even got to visit the Peyo exhibition in Belgium once). I thought Mission Vileaf was excellent, though I'm happy to see from those screenshots of the new one that they may have fixed a minor gripe I had with it, in that the visuals were a bit weird. Don't get me wrong, it was a very nice looking game, but it had this weird like 2013 Instagram filter look (yellowy/sepia tinge, weird shadow around the edge of the screen, excessive bloom, overly harsh shadows).
The game's out now, and here's a launch trailer. While I'm planning to get this one, it's gonna have to wait since I have other plans this month. Looking forward to playing when I can get around to picking this one up.
To those picking this up because they loved Mission Vileaf, have fun!
