I beat it! After putting off the final battle for months, I finally beat it. I just didn't want it to end. Anyway, the ending was very cool.

I can't believe I've still managed to not-update the game since 1.1.1. I know I'm going to screw up one of these days when I'm not paying attention and possibly mash buttons to boot up the game and unintentionally update it.😆

Been running through the game without the glider at all. Been fun so far, since it makes you have to consider how you approach puzzles or traversal without it- when the game is heavily designed for it. The only issue I have is that you can't get the camera until after getting the glider- so specific sidequests aren't possible for me to do.

@VoidofLight I need to try that. I had a lot of fun doing a no climbing BOTW, so it looks like no glider TOTK is my next step

You can’t control the way others talk to you, but you can control the way you talk to others.

I’m tempted to try that but by god is it gonna take a stubborn amount of willpower. Can’t imagine I can get much done conventionally; the Wind Temple is almost all gliding, the Depths is a no-go considering the drop, plus any sky island.

Then again I can easily see someone using Zonai devices for every one of these situations, especially handling drops and getting to high places… still begs the question of how someone beats Colgera 😅

I finally got around to collecting all the Bubbul Gems. It turned out to be less of a chore than I was expecting, because it turned out that I'd only missed around ten caves and there were maybe thirty more where I'd just not found the Bubbul Frog.

If you're just playing the game normally though, it's not really worth it to collect more than 46 gems because that's the last time you'll see any meaningful rewards. For the remaining 101, you just get a fabric and a cut scene.

For the next post-game grind, I'm thinking of doing all Addison's signs.

@Matt_Barber I want up finish propping up all of those construction company signs, too. I feel like I'm going to need a map, because I think I only have a few left.

@jedgamesguy You can get up to the sky islands and to the depths pretty easily. The hard part is mostly getting out of the depths, since you need to find an actual exit if you don't use teleportation (which I don't).

@VoidofLight Nothing a hot-air balloon won't solve, (one that doesn't use any power) plus the random ascend pillars littered through the depths. Still, it's a crazy challenge, only thing that would be worse is playing without climbing lmao.

@jedgamesguy I only really did it like this because I would always wonder why I felt so empty in BotW after I left the Great Plateau. I mostly realized that emptiness was due to getting the Paraglider, since it took a lot of the puzzle out of traversing through the game's overworld. The Great Plateau was fun because you had to use the environment to your advantage to get around. BotW's main mode of exploring Hyrule was pretty much just utilizing the paraglider to skip all your obstacles in your path- only further compounded by obtaining the Champion abilities.

When I saw that you could skip getting the glider in Tears of the Kingdom, I basically wanted to rerun through the entire game without having to get the glider at all. Mostly to see how far I could get in the main story without it- but also because I wanted to see how my uses of Zonai tech and environmental items would carry me through the game.

Also, yeah the ascend pillars tend to be my main way out of the depths. I still haven't gotten a good way to traverse the skies, mainly due to the islands themselves- but the depths just require me to grab fairies from one of the stables and send myself plummeting down the chasms.

I've done all of Addison's signs now. It was surprisingly enjoyable as they're all slightly different, so you've got to think a bit when it comes to solving the puzzles that they present. At least that's the case if you're going to use locally available materials. You could cheese them with Autobuild or Zonai capsules, but where's the fun in that?

The final reward is yet another fabric, so it's not really worth it unless you're engaging with the puzzles or are enough of a completionist. I suppose you'll pick up a few rupees and a lot of meals that you can sell for more along the way, at least.

I finally did the endboss today. It was a fun endboss, but not that difficult. Once you learn that you have to parry in the third phase before you can land any hits it all goes pretty smooth. After that you get a fight (I won't spoil it here) that is very hard to lose, I guess. As for the main fight: I did have all my hearts, good clothes, good shields, good weapons, lots of food, quite a bunch of Gloom-meals. But for this fight you only need your Master sword, while in Botw I needed every weapon.

Now I just have to do the loose-ends, wich there are quite a bunch: Compendium, Addison signs, Blue-prints, etc. I'll do that someday. I just wanted to experience the endboss before they are going to show the next 3D Zelda (wich may take a while though).

Update: I did the endboss again yesterday just for fun and to make some pictures for the compendium. Ironically I had more trouble the second time, I don't know why that is. I now also have done all the Addison's. I had missed one previously, and when I started searching again I luckily started in the right place and found him pretty quickly. I also noticed the recipes page now shows the total number of recipes in the game. Seems I still need to make LOTS of them! Might do that later.

FishyS

So I just bought this game on sale and played the first few minutes and have a question:

Is it literally all just Link and Zelda's fault??? It sure seems like they went exploring in a place Zelda's ancestors knew should be stayed away from and woke up the bad guy for no good reason other than Zelda nerding out on history.

@FishyS Slight partial spoiler:

There is a lot more to it, but that was going to happen at that moment regardless of their presence.

Eel

@FishyS I’m not sure if it’s a spoiler, but they went down there because they suspect it’s the source of the gloom that’s invading Hyrule, not simply out of pleasure.

So it would have probably happened regardless.

Nevertheless, this following part IS a spoiler, given how the story progresses, it was simply meant to happen exactly this way with no way to prevent any of it.
