Topic: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Beat Lightning Temple then beat maze in Gerudo, then beat the sky labyrinth above it, then beat the Depths challenge beneath it, went on to explore a HUGE chunk of the depths, upgraded battery another 3 times (up to 19 energy wells), then hit the sky and explored a massive portion in the southwestern part of the map, including giant orb like a death star, much bigger than the other one I found. Even found 2 Fairies. Oh, and got another piece of the miner armor set (1 more to go!) and another Sages Will (2 more to go!).

Massive progress today. Love it.

Yeah, Lightning Temple is my favorite, at least the Wind Temple reminded me of Skyward Sword's dungeon, so, there's that, lol

Ok, I'm really frustrated now... I'm at the Water Temple and I can't figure out how to activate the wheels. They can't be moved with the Ultrahand, and I tried using the water shield next to them, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I literally tried everything I could think of. To those of you who have finished it, what do I have to do to activate the water wheels? That's all I'm asking, I should be able to do the whole dungeon on my own afterward. Thanks for your help in advance.

@MarioLover92 does Sidon have a prompt? If so click it and you should a have water bubble around you, once you have the bubble hit Y facing the wheel and it will unscrew.

Started zora region last night as my second part of the "Regional Phenomena" quest. I wasted most of my time because, I couldn't find stupid King Dorephan. That zora guy at toto lake says the king will "be here momentarily", which, in the english language means that he'll show up any second now and I just have to wait, and the king DOESN'T show up.☹ I'm disappointed I had to cheat with youtube to figure out where the king was.

I guess I stumbled across the hint for where the king is when I encountered the kid's playing in the kings thrown area in the main palace, but I wasn't paying close enough attention, or it was too vague for me to figure out.

@WoomyNNYes The zora quest line is obnoxious all-around, tbh.

It seems like the divine beast masks shorten the cool down time for the sage abilities? (plus the spirit will wear the original sage mask)

Made some decent progress last night. Got a full second stamina wheel, unlocked some light roots, a sky tower, some shrines, and left off just getting into korork forest. My plan is to grab the master sword and then head south to get the white horse shrine taken care off. Oh, and I finally took down my first gleeok! The hylian bridge fight is a little bit of a pain in the butt with how narrow it is, but I got it.

@Ryu_Niiyama yeah it’s a really cool little detail. Kinda wish there was a way to make them all wear them at the same time

Unless there is in which case I’m not there yet.

It all makes me wonder if this has retconned the origin of the names of the divine beasts, if the sages from this distant past are named Rudania, Medoh, Naboris and Ruta. It’s possible they took what used to be references to past games, and retroactively made them references to this one.

@Eel or they mixed and matched the sages/origins. It’s likely still Ruto, Nabooru, Darunia and Medli as the inspiration (as BOTW confirms the source of Ruta and Naboris) but they weren’t explicitly sages. Nabooru is referred to as a Legend of the Gerudo so she was likely a mighty Chief and Warrior but no longer a sage. Same with Ruto I think, Princess and ruler and heroine but likely not a sage anymore. Just like how Impa was removed from being a sage. Or sagehood might have become ceremonial at that point. If a leader needed to ascend they would go to the original sages resting places and get the power. But as they forgot their history even that faded to myth. The BOTW series seems to have adopted the Assassins Creed motto. Nothing is true, Everything is permitted. So all the people from the old Zelda games likely exist but they may not have done everything they did in the old games.

In fact the divine masks may have been mimic/inspired by the original sage masks as the Sheikah at that time likely knew the history. It’s not until the people turn on the Sheikah that so much knowledge is lost. At which point each tribe/species slowly regressed and became more insular. I don’t think that they are trying to retcon BOTW so much as say “this was already there but you didn’t know”. I feel both game scenarios were sketched out (perhaps not done) at the same time or rather this was a planned duology if you didn’t count AoC.

@MarioLover92 That's one problem I have with this game, it's not always clear wheat I need to do, though with the dungeon things I figured activating stuff would involves the ally's power. lol

But yeah, wished it would a bit more clear on some things.

Did the Fire Temple today, dungeon was a bit confusing as always, but like the Lightning Temple I do like how it still felt like a traditional dungeon. Boss was fun. That said, done with all temples...no idea when I'll go and finish the game yet, though.

Also, I'm surprised this game doesn't have a boss/miniboss version of Evermean. lol

Can’t do anything there though, I suppose it’ll be part of the story later.

@JaxonH How are you getting on with your power cell? I crossed 75% complete, I have 10 wells left then I'm at max.

@WoomyNNYes Nice!! Thanks for that! I'll have a look for that suit soon!! I have some of the old tunics (Wind Waker, Skyward Sword etc) plus the three you can get from the lady who marks the X's on the map, but i'm short of loads of armor.
