My digital preorder with the voucher was just processed, Japanese version. So the game is downloading to my Switch now. It's going to be torture seeing the icon on my Home screen and not being able to play until it unlocks next week. So excited! The Legend of Zelda is my favorite series, can't wait to play Tears of the Kingdom.

Same here (UK), pre-ordered via Game Voucher so a sweet sweet £42. Game has downloaded already.

Staggering that it's 16Gb, I've had patches for games on my Steam Deck much larger than that.

Trying to kill time until TOTK, and I'm really tempted to get Oceanhorn 2 while it's on sale, 40% off, $17.99 USD. (I'm aware of the NL review and the game's metacritic)

@Magician I have not. Matter of fact I've played about half an hour of the first game.

Looks like there's a day one 1.1.0 patch being sent out. As of now, it's unknown what it does, but from people that have played the game early, it seems to fix some FPS issues among other bugs. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Will that be downloaded at the same time as the game itself, if you go digital?
The only reason I am going digital is so I can play it on Thursday night.

@blindsquarel Yes, looks like the update can be preloaded along with the game.

@blindsquarel Any pre-launch patches can be downloaded pre-launch if you preordered the game on the eshop. If the game is still one of the 12 games on the home screen, it should download automatically when connected to the internet. If it's not then press "+" when on the TotK icon, then go to "Software Update" and "Via the Internet".

I'm kinda glad I got the physical version, this game is looking bigger than I thought (I have only seen 1 leak so far and it was a pretty minor one).

The game downloaded for me, and I did notice that it was Ver. 1.1.0 when I checked earlier. It must have automatically downloaded after the game finished downloading.

I haven't looked at any actual footage except for the official trailers and commercials. I'm not too finicky about fps and such, I guess, but if this helps fix the issues, sounds great. My one brother surprised me with the ToTK-themed OLED Switch earlier this week, and my other brother actually paid for the game vouchers (which I've used for ToTK and Pikmin 4) and new ToTK Link amiibo preorder back in February. I finished transferring my user accounts and redownloading my other games over so I'm all set. So excited. Really looking forward to playing next week!

Really pleased this is happening but feels like Nintendo have left it a little late now. I mean, most people buying the game day 1 will probably want to avoid gameplay spoilers at this point.

Still, for those of of us who like to avoid going into games completely blind, this is a must watch!

My Switch downloaded the prepurchase for me. Consists of 15.9GB for the game plus about 300 MB for the update for a total of 16.2GB. Seems the original storage size was correct. If I were Nintendo I would have been tempted to cut a chunk out of the base game to fit it in the 16GB cartridge and distribute the rest digitally. I wonder.

That’s probably what they did.

So what is everyone doing for Zelda day? I’m heading to Best Buy at 10 and picking up the game, heading home, then ordering a pizza and opening a bowl of broccoli (I don’t like to snack on chips) and grabbing some cold drinks and I am not moving until bed time.

Probably just going to sit on the couch at 9 pm, click on the game for an hour trying to unlock it early, and then after an hour wasted I am going to stay up as late as possible playing the game.
