Somebody got their Terminator in my Contra. This looks absolutely fantastic. Developed by Bitmap Bureau. XenoCrisis, Final Vendetta, and Battle Axe. It should be at least good if not great.
Trailer confirms retail physical release.

It looks good alot better then the crappy T2 game we got on SNES lol. I remember getting that game one Christmas morning and then being really disappointed by it a few hours later lol.

It looks incredible. My only hang up is that I thought Final Vendetta and Battle Axe were only passable versions of their respective genres. Both of those games look much better in YT videos than they look on my TV screen, and the gameplay is pretty basic. This does look more polished and varied though, and modern retro run n guns still feel fresh, whereas beat em ups have progressed way beyond the days of Final Fight. Cautiously optimistic.
Just one more day to go for this year's most anticipated Switch 1 game, at least to me it is. Was pretty sure I had pre-ordered the day one edition but apparently it's the collector's edition. ๐ T2 the movie is one of my absolute favorites and i'm looking forward to Bitmap Bureau's tribute.

@Insert_Username Mine came earlier today. I was surprised it came not only a day early, but also was surprised that the day 1 edition was more like a collector's edition. It came in a cardboard box with a bunch of extras that I must admit I haven't even looked at yet. If that's the normal day 1 edition, then the collector's edition must be insane ๐
I only had a chance to play the first level, but it feels great so far.
@Reprise Mine arrived today. A bunch of cool stuff in the collectorโs edition. Going to play for a bit this evening. Great that you got your copy a day before release and that you both have had time to play the game and also like it so far. ๐๐ป

@Insert_Username Yeah, it's cool. It plays exactly as I expected it would, but in a good way. It's definitely one of the better retro inspired 2D games I have played in the last few years.
@Reprise Agreed. The game is so, so good. I'm going to 100% this one.

Played a it of it yesterday and this is the T2 LJN should have made on the SNES. Which just proves more to the point that LJN was a crappy game publisher. Their is no way they couldn't do something similar to this. I could understand somethings like the licensed music due to copyright laws and having to pay for them back then but there is no excuse besides laziness that LJN couldnt do this type of game back then. I mean we had Contra III on the SNES.
Anyway enough rambling on what should have been. So far as I said I am loving this game. I loved how they extended some things from the movie. Everything is just perfect. The music, the game play. This is a perfect example of how to use a licensed IP for a video game.

Being fair, Contra 3 was the product of Konami, who at the time were some of the best game designers and coders in the industry. Even if LJN actually did try harder, I suspect they wouldn't be able to magic that level of talent and training into existence from scratch.
I'm not sold based on the bits that I've seen during a YT playthrough. Some of those Walking animations(I'm looking at you Sarah Connor.) look really cookie cutter and unfinished.
Feels like this game was first and formost trying to nail the look, tone, sound and story bits, while replicating key moments in the film through pixel art cutscenes or integrating them in-game, which is where it supposedly excells in, but the core gameplay almost seems to lean towards being an after thought, as if the faithfulness and desire to nail those moments from the movie itself hinder and have an almost negative impact on the gameplay and practically restrict it from being as great as it could have with more creative leeway that deviated from the film itself.
I've got no issues with it being Arcadey' and short though. That's actually a good thing! I'll just get it digitally when there's a sale. I'm more intersted in that Toxic Crusaders beat em up, but it's been delayed for Q1 2026. Neon Inferno released last week, which looks pretty solid too.
BitMapBeauro's Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pear of Destruction looks especailly awesome >
Played through it last night. If this were released for the SNES it would've been a certified classic. I appreciate how the game approaches events leading up to and after the story of T2. I like how the gameplay changes genres from action/platformer, to beat'em up, to auto-runner, with a dash of Clocktower. Lovingly crafted, hitting some of the best sequences from the movie.
Money well spent. I look forward to repeat playthroughs to see the alternate paths.
