Ya, I can already say I love this game. My very first thought when starting the game was, is that a dog smoking a pipe in his sleep? Yuuuup, it sure is. This is definitely going to be one of those games lol.
Especially like the side conversations you can bring up with minus when you see the prompt.
All have sinned and fall short of Gods glory. Wages of sin is death. Romans
God so loved the world He sent His only Son- whoever believes on Him has eternal life. Unless you believe, you will die in your sins. Whoever believes, rivers of living water flow within them. John
Yeah, those little conversations gives a certain depth to the characters. Are you playing with the English or Japanese voice cast? I tried the English one first, but found it kinda awful. The Japanese one is better, the only thing one misses out are the taunts during the battles.
@Quarth
English. I really don't like reading everything because I can't hear the voices in a language I understand. Besides which, I think the voice acting is incredible. Yuri is voiced by Troy Baker, the absolute best in the industry and who often voices the main characters for the biggest AAA games released.

Yeah, for all the lack of resources Bamco gives their Tales team, English voice acting is NOT an area where they skimp. ToV has an outstanding voice cast
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
@JaxonH@iKhan Then we agree to disagree. We all have different taste, but someone called me an idiot in the XC2 thread for not liking the voice acting of Pyra/Mythra, so maybe I'm alone with my taste in voice acting. Good that there's the option of changing language everytime you start the game. Yuri was OK I think!
@iKhan
Right. Troy Baker is as good as it gets. Hes THE best voice actor there is. I can't believe the were able to afford him.
My guess is Troy Baker wasn't quite yet world famous at the time they signed him, and now that he's the biggest name in video game voice acting, they didnt want to sign him on for the additional scenes (though the person they had do those scenes sounds almost just like him).
But ya, this game's voice work rivals that of The Last of Us, Uncharted, Batman Arkham City, Metal Gear Solid V... etc. At least for the main character (cause it's the same guy)
@Quarth
While I thought Pyra and Mythra were decent, I can understand it wasn't the best. But not liking Troy Baker? That's like criticizing the voice work of Uncharted, The Last of Us. Batman Arkham... I've just... never in my life heard such a thing.
You sure you didnt just assume the voice acting is bad without actually trying it out? Cause saying Baker sounds bad is like saying Shakespear sucks at writing or Michaelangelo sucks at art. If someone doesnt like Baker's voice work, they probably won't like any English voice work... ever. Cause he's universally accepted as the best there is in the entire industry. I can kinda understand listening to JP when its super low budget, garbage voice actors, but when you quite literally have Nathan Drake voicing the main character? What more could you possibly want...

It's my first tales game and I really like it. I hope they bring the other tales games to switch as well. I like the English voice acting but I hated rex his in xenoblade chronicles 2 so I switched it to Japanese rather quick.
@JaxonH That voice actor wasn't that bad, but I just got irritated by the characters in the town and the guards. But I will give it another chance. I promise!
Being a handheld gamer almost exclusively, I must admit I haven't played games like Uncharted or Last of Us, so I'm not familiar with his work. Has he been in any games on Nintendo consoles before?
@Kimyonaakuma
I am a big fan of his work... true. That being said, he is one of the most respected names in video game voice work, and is sought out for main character voiceovers for the biggest AAA games in the industry. Naturally, there's a reason for that.

Made a oops....forgot to cancel the Amazon order because it was so far down the order list. The order list should list the upcoming order instead of burying now - I'll lose money just to send it back. What a crapper of a deal they do to Prime members. So I might cancel my BestBuy because the JPN version has more extra plus a DLC code.

@Quarth
It was only sold on the Bandai Namco Store, unlike past CE for Tales games. And smaller too (which is appreciated, nobody has room for those big, gaudy Collector editions)

I’ve got too many myself. But I have the CE for Zesteria and Berseria, so there was no way I could pass up on the first Switch version of a Tales CE, especially one that was so limited.
But I’m quickly running out of space. Got the Mario Kart 8 CE on Wii U, The one where they only sold 300 at Nintendo World Store in NYC (awesome member here who lived in NY bought and shipped to me), all the Fire Emblem and Xenoblade and Monster Hunter CEs... I keep telling myself I’m only going to buy them if it’s an absolute favorite, but even doing that it adds up. Valkyria Chronicles 4, had to get that one. Bayonetta 1/2 from Japan, had to get that for the steelcase... now Tales... Then you toss in stuff like the Starlink physical version that’s massive, and it all becomes a bit much.
I did quit buying the Collector figures though. It started out where I just wanted one or two, but it quickly grew out of control. Got the Pyra stature and Mythra is on the way (they fit together and cross swords). After that I’m done. I’m cancelling my Amiami account permanently. Amiibo alone cascaded into 100-150 figures... it’s just gotten out of control.
Glad to hear you like the voices. Some of them can be a little questionable but, Baker does such a great job, it’s always a joy hearing his lines.
