Topic: Tales of Vesperia - Definitive Edition

Only Tales game I've ever played was Symphonia on GC. Never got the chance to finish it, but really enjoyed the time I had with the game. Looking forward to Vesperia, and I hope the Switch version gets that awesome collectors case.

How many are going to get the JPN version when it release? I am tempted to do so. Might cost arm/leg but definitely a collector.

In response to questions asked about Tales of Vesperia, the producer, Tomizawa, had this to say

one of the big goals of this game is to help the series go fully multiplatform

So it’s not just one game. They are transitioning the entire series into a fully multiplatform franchise.

I’ve preordered it today. It will be a bit expensive on January 11, as I will also be picking up New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, but it’s worth it. Glad this game isn’t that expensive.

It’s more expensive for me, since I locked in the collector edition from Bandai Namco store. $100 shipped. And a digital copy preloaded for $50... yikes!

Could’ve gotten a physical copy from BestBuy for $39.99 but... this is one of those rare games. Had to have that collector edition.

But ya, NSMBU releasing the same day is a double whammy for sure. And 2D Mario on Switch is a must. Especially given its NSMBU, which I thought was one of the best Mario 2D platforming games ever made. Passing a joy con and playing multiplayer anywhere is totally worth it. Everyone loves and is willing to play Mario.

While I love this game I'm going to hold off for now... Still working on Octopath and Torna (and Ys).

@JaxonH The collector’s edition would’ve been nice, but I don’t have space for more big stuff (I’m a retro collector, so have a lot of games and accessories for the Game Boy and other handheld consoles). But I’m fine with only having the standard edition.

And yeah! NSMBUDeluxe will be awesome to play with friends! Really liked the first game on DS. Haven’t played any NSMB since then.

If you’ve already played it and aren’t getting it day one, maybe you can at least hang around the forum and give the rest of us some advice... although I’m not sure how complex it will be or how many secrets it will hold. No games like Xenoblade and Lost Odyssey require all kinds of secret knowledge obtained via experience

You’re in for a treat. I played a little bit of the ones on DS and Wii. I beat NSMB2 on 3DS and NSMBU on Wii U. This one is, by far, the best in the series. All the games are pretty similar but, that’s only a problem if you play all 4 of them back to back to back to back.

@JaxonH Yeah, as I haven’t played one since the original, I think this will feel fresh to me, especially as it’s considered the best one in the series. And to be able to play it both docked and portable, and together with friends, is great!

Can't wait. I'll be playing this along with some of my friends, which will be awesome! Will be the first time we'll all pick up an RPG and play it together.

@JaxonH I may float in and out but honestly I'll be putting down the games for the next three months as I am cramming for my SQL server certs.

My copy of Tales has turned up 24 hours early!! This is my first Tales experience, any tips from people who have played it in the past?

Going to dive into it in about an hour or two, need to get some jobs done first.

Day one for me, been waiting some quality games which you can spend hours of playing. Tales of Symphonia beaten last summer. Been hearing only good things about this one, and really liked the characters already when beaten Project X Zone games ^^

@JaxonH I'm getting the feeling that the current Japanese development industry isn't so much embracing XBox so much as it's fleeing Sony.....

Have my copy since yesterday; its been fun as of now. Defintely has some if that Symphonia feel.

Looking forward to playing this again tomorrow. Had fun times with the original 360 version

This game is great so far! The battle system felt a little strange at first, but I quickly got used to it. Now it feels really good and fun!

A word of advice: choose the Japanese voice track!

Arrived in the mail! But I'm going to hold off on it until I finish Valkyria Chronicles 1.

Got a game started today, but saved and fired up Xenoblade 2 Torna, since I was at the end boss.

Wow... best ending to a video game I’ve ever seen, at least in recent memory that I can think of.

Just brilliant.
