Topic: Switching SD card into new switch console

Hello,

I order the new version of the Switch (better battery) and gonna sell my old switch to my brother. I know about transferring account data, but I also have a SD card in the old switch. Can I just pop this card out and place into the new switch or is there a specific method that I have to go through?

Many thanks in advance.

The SD card data can only be used with one console, so if you intend to use the same SD card with the new system, I strongly suggest you back up any photos/videos before putting it in the new Switch and getting it formatted (you may be able to paste the photos/videos back if you so choose, but you must back them up manually beforehand).

Save data will need to be transferred wirelessly between the two systems (and save data is saved to the system memory anyway), but all patches/DLC will need to be redownloaded or otherwise wirelessly transferred to the formatted card.

You don't need to back up anything other than photos/videos as they won't be usable with the new console.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
