i would like to know the details of this too. i've got the Switch OLED on Pre-Order and i want to transfer my data from the old console onto the OLED but on my OLED i want to use my new 512gb sd card instead of my 400gb one. it should be ok to have the 512gb sd card in the OLED when i redownload all my stuff on the new console right?

@SuperepicGaming Yup. It's just the Nintendo folder you're going to copy. (game saves are stored separately on switch internal memory. You don't need to mess with that.)

Nintendo support is a great resource. If you search there first, you may never need to ask here. They've got good directions for most everything. Here's two pages for you.

(You'll need to format your new card on your switch before you copy your Nintendo folder onto it. See the directions I linked here, though.)

Nintendo support (north america) has been quite good. I've used them four times. The phone number only displays on this contact page when they are open (Seattle Washington work hours

@Yoshi-Egg If by chance, you want Nintendo AUS support, you'll have to look it up. I'm in the US.

As posted transferring is alot of work and needs a PC with microSD reader to transfer back and forth. But when your new microSD is formatted in OLED. You can copy back the old data onto the new card but don't overwrite anything that was newly formatted in the Nintendo folder. Why, this will inform the OLED that it's the same microSD it formatted and you will only transfer your data not overwrite New formatted OLED data with the Old data. If you do this it will not work and will ask to reformat your card and if you didn't backup the microSD on the computer consider anything you saved or downloaded on Cart GONE. THIS IS A WARNING to those that don't know this process.
