I love the fact the Switch has so many ports/remasters of classic games. Skyrim, Doom, LA Noire, RE Revelations to name a few. Obviously, I do think the console should have new AAA games but third parties have to design them specifically for the Switch or developers have to spend a lot of time adjusting them from the other current gen. I'd love to see some N64/ GameCube remasters. Imagine Geist on Switch. Maybe it's what retro has been working on...
As long as it's more quality title on the Switch, it would be fun. I know there's a lot of titles I have skipped over the years (especially console-only titles), so it'll be nice to see what I might be able to finally try and play.
I agree. I feel that the backlash toward ports is unjustified. If tomorrow Microsoft announced a portable Xbox 360 or Sony a portable PS3, I'd be all down for it. But it is Nintendo, and the haters LOVE to hate on Nintendo.
I also agree that the Switch does need new content for sure. But I see no harm in ports of great older games. It's a great way to fill the Switch release schedule in between newer content.

Even as a WiiU owner, I want them to port just about every WiiU exclusive they can. Excluding some things that could be considered unnecessary like Yoshi WW. I mean, I know they won't, but if they did, I wouldn't complain. Although, all this could be explained by the incredible disdain I hold over the WiiU. Literally the day I got the Switch, my WiiU's days were numbered, and not having a functioning gamepad doesn't help either,
I do like ports, but i hate the fact that some of them take so long (yes, i look at you, Hollow Knight) - since i noticed there's a port coming, the game was on sale on pc several times and it's been a tough time not ending up buying the game for steam
@wyzau Well, at least Hollow Knight's reason is that they want to polish everything first, which I'm glad they decided to do- although I do agree that it feels bad to wait for so long. I hope they'll give out the release date soon.
(I already end up buying the game on pc, but after I played for a bit, I know I want it on Switch more, just so I can stare at the full map on computer XD)
New games are of course necessary for any console, but I don't want to leave behind my favourite games, but with a console like Switch that has no retrocompatibility at all this means I can only hope in ports and remasters. Unfortunately not all games have the same chances to get ported/remastered/remaked. I think it will be very probable that games like Super Mario Galaxy and Donkey Kong Country Returns will get ported, but for example it will be rather unlikely to get games like Endless Ocean 2 for example and I am very sad thinking that it could never get released again on Switch.
The remake that I would want the most is probably Oblivion because despite the fact that it is one of my favourite games ever there are many things that can be greatly improved in it. The design of the characters, the third person mode... Every other game I love is just fine as is. I want HD quality in older games like Twilight Princess of course but this is not a change in the games, it's just an improvement in their technical features. Oblivion would benefit a lot from real improvements of how the game itself is made, and this is why it is the one I want the most, but honestly I really hope for them all, I am just too fond of them I don't like the idea that I can't play them anymore.
PS: I still have those games and the consoles to play them but it is just too annoying to keep everything plugged or change console everytime. Right now I have both Switch and the computer plugged to the tv and I have no HDMI plug left.
This is also the main reason why I'm not yet 100% sure that I will buy a PS4 in the future: I'd like it at least to play the new God of war but it is just too annoying to have all those cables and those devices around. So of course I don't like to use my older consoles as well, I often get nostalgic with older games but it is just too annoying and frustrating to set up everything.
There's no reason why we couldn't get an Endless Ocean game on Switch. The Wii got two of them (the first being very scarce and the second being available in relative abundance). But I would rather see a new instlament that takes full advantage of the Switch as opposed to a port of an 8.5 year old game.
Porygon did nothing wrong.

@sillygostly I remember how I felt when I entered the castle of Valka for the first time and heard for the first time its theme song. It would be great to have a new Endless Ocean game, but I want EO2 too. I want to experience that feeling again on my new console!
As long as the games are good, I don't mind ports! Big names like Bethesda and Rockstar will probably continue to support the Switch with ports and maybe even some new titles. EA's bound to jump on board with some good support. I doubt they'd want to miss this money train. Blindly optimistic/hoping to see Dragon Age and Mass Effect make the jump.
I'm also completely in favor of porting any reasonable Wii U exclusives over to the Switch so they may have a proper chance to generate some sales. I don't understand the logic in being against Wii U ports. I see so many people argue against them here.
Some older Nintendo titles would greatly benefit from remasters, too: F-Zero GX, Xenoblade Chronicles, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Paper Mario (64 and TTYD), etc. Nintendo could even dip into the 3DS's incredible library for ports and remasters. Maybe some HD collections, as well. I'm crossing my fingers for Zelda and Metroid Prime.
