So LRG just shadow-dropped pre-orders for Penny's Big Breakway.

What's interesting is that this isn't a numbered release, but they opened pre-orders at the usual time on Friday.
I've also been noticing how fewer pre-orders on LRG are showing up in the "coming soon" section.

With Penny's I can bunch that with Pumpkin Jack, nice.
Looking at the Deluxe Edition of Penny's BB, you pay an extra $ 29 for a poster, a CD soundtrack, a keychain and what looks like a VCR box to put it all in, erm rip off much?
@RupeeClock It is are numbered if you select the platform - No 257

@Bunkerneath
Huh, so it is. My bad I hadn't gone to place my order so hadn't seen the numbers are per-platform.
Actually, this is new to their site that you have to select the game, and then select the platform that you want. That's why I overlooked this, the big numbering was absent from their social media posts or the store's front page.

It's not an amazing value deluxe edition, but it does at least have that soundtrack CD.
I really, really like the game's soundtrack.

I hope the print quality for the plastic case is better though, I got the same for Beacon Pines and the actual image they used for the print was surprisingly poor, you should it was blown up from a compressed jpeg or something.

Fantasian is up for preorder at retailers in Murica.

Very surprising. I didn't expect Square Enix to go all-in with the release, that they'd leave it as a S-E Store exclusive or something. Seems there still remains a level of respect for the father of Final Fantasy within S-E. It's nice to see.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,555 games (as of March 31st, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

@RupeeClock - Oooh that is dangerous for those only targeting numbered releases. Rain World has the same issue. #258.

Thanks for that roundup of MegaMan-likes! I'm still deliberating over whether to import a copy of Berserk Boy. I've spent what is, for me, a fortune on games this year already!

With the Mega Man X Collection, it's arguably the worst way to play the SNES trilogy.
They have horrendous input delay and feel really unresponsive as a result.

Oh yikes, I wasn't aware. FPS I'm not picky over, but input lag is super annoying if it's so bad that I notice it!
Fortunately, I would probably play the later X games mostly, as the one or two I bought years ago were PS1 titles.
Like you, I'd have much preferred the Japan release where all the games are properly on the cart, but not at the current going price. I settled for the US physical at a really low price.

I'm just thinking that by then, we might even have the Switch 2 in our hands at last, you know? Or at least know what it is and when it's coming.

I feel you there - we're at the point where we are preordering games that probably will arrive in the post-Switch 1 era! In the back of my mind I'm trying to only get those 2025 titles like Suikoden, that I think will still compete well for my time with next year's shiny new Super Switch games.

@Paraka
Yeah, I really hope they take notice of this visibility issue and address it in future listings and emails.
Like, still put a stamp on it that these are numbered releases, even if they for some reason don't want to show the individual numbered releases when making you pick the specific platform.

@Teksetter
Yeah, FPS is no issue for the SNES Mega Man X games, but the input delay is a major downer, and unfortunately Capcom never issued any updates that might fix it.
Internally they seem to be very aware of this problem because they put a lot more effort into the subsequent Legacy Collections for Zero & ZX, and Battle Network. Those ones were rock solid.

It's strange that the most exciting prospect of the Switch 2 for me right now, is the possibility of my backlog of physical games playing way better on newer hardware, even if it's just in a basic mode similar to what emulators can achieve by granting additional processing speed and more or faster memory.
Emulators can have serious stability or accuracy issues at times though, and you lose out on all the Nintendo online connectivity and features, I want the Switch 2 to be the be-all end-all to that problem.

You know that a ton of Unity games capped at 30 FPS on Switch actually suffer terrible input delay, that magically disappears when you up the cap to 60 FPS? That's a big part of what I'm hoping gets fixed by the Switch 2.

Crossed the imaginary milestone of 1,300 games in the collection yesterday with...

So Yakuza Kiwami is LRG confirmed. That kind of sucks but it seems to be what Sega is doing now.

@Aurumonado - SEGA has not been financially savvy when it comes to their physical releases for a while now. Not that I like to admit it, but they kind of trained everyone to essentially wait for price drops before anyone buying anything because how quickly and frequently they do so. Holding that much inventory for games next for a few thousand planned on buying at "full price" was pretty destructive. Many have seen that, few even collapsed (Midway). Hell, surprised Ubisoft has not started taking bids for LRG as well.

Also; Yakuza Kiwami is numbered. 262

@Aurumonado I had a bad feeling it would be LRG as soon as the eshop file size was confirmed to be over 16GB (it's 22.5GB). It's very rare that companies use 32GB carts because it's too expensive but SEGA's not really the type to do mandatory downloads either (e.g. 15GB on the cart, 7.5GB as a download).

@Grumblevolcano
For the Switch version of Team Sonic Racing, SEGA cut out the video intro specifically to get the size down to 6.6 GB, so it can fit on a 8GB card.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/05/team_sonic_racing_d...
The digital version of the game has since increased to 7231 MB through updates.

So, yeah I can see why SEGA went to LRG for Yakuza Kiwami. 32 GB carts aren't practical on a commercial retail scale except for the biggest franchises, which Yakuza is not.

RupeeClock

Paraka

@RupeeClock - Even then, several who went that direction still struggled comercially. Witcher 3 cited sluggish sales from preventing their reprint to have everything on cart. They financially couldn't risk it further.

Sega can screw themselves with this release of Yakuza. Also funny how ps4 and xbox are getting it again when it's still cheap to get them.

catsnpizzas

@Arcwave Yakuza Kiwami is not available physically on Xbox. If I recall correctly, none of the Yakuza games prior to Yakuza 7 are available physically on Xbox.

Arcwave

@catsnpizzas Thanks for the correction. Thought it was for Xbox too. So the ps4 version is only one that doesn't make sense
