Under the circumstances I don't think you're ever going to get that lol, LRG have already secured the physical release for the US and for Japan (under SUPERDELUXE).

The only bet otherwise is an EU release by another company, possibly retail but realistically gonna be a boutique like Super Rare. Nightmare Reaper for example was a Playstation release by LRG and a Switch release by Super Rare.

Huh, just got a refund from Feardemic, I think it might of been for a pre-order for Papetura physical, that I made god knows when.
EDIT: it was from 12 April 2023.
Looks like that's not happening then.

@Bunkerneath Still is, just with a different publisher.

I'm sad to have missed the second batch of Gunvein from NGDev.

I need a hug.

Aww Gunvein looks like a decent shooter and you must be disappointed, but don’t give up hope - maybe there’ll be a Japanese release, or a second print run, or you’ll find a copy listed for a reasonable price elsewhere.

In happier news, I was pleased to learn a physical for Volgarr the Viking II is on the way! Open preorders are running this month at Rock It Games. They predict delivery in Q2 2025. The soundtrack CD bundle looks good to me, though I really wish they bundled Volgarr I onto the cart, too. This will be my first order with Rock It Games, so fingers crossed! 🤞🏼

@NeonMullet - Well, yeah, the wait is the cost traded for the game not being limited printed in 5k pre printed and be taken by the lion's share of scalpers.

Most LRG releases in after market since this change is not suffering 2-3 times mark up due to the fact many major titles are 12k copies in circulation, almost three times more than the 4k they used to do.

Honestly, helps me able to budget accordingly, and bundle orders. As opposed to sit around for an hour for them to go live and sell out faster than your IP can load the page cause scalpers got bots buying their max.

@NeonMullet I mean, they leave a month for preorders, then they have to create the cart, QA test it, resubmit stuff, apply patches, get approvals, etc... How is it humanly possible for any game they make to come out day 1? I wouldn't want a day 1 release anyway because even a day 1 patch getting onto the cart is a blessing.

Why are people so desperate to have a game second one? Especially if it's not online multiplayer or something. Are you constantly running out of games to play? I have over 100 physical Switch games I haven't touched yet and some digital. I will never catch up. A lot of people in the limprint community seem to be very angry that games don't come out physically along with the digital release. How does it benefit, like, LRG? How does it inconvenience someone so much to wait 5 months for a game (as long as that's what was promised)? Actually asking.

Paraka

@NeonMullet - You're trying to blame developers on the reasons that are out of their control. They no as much as LRG about how many a game would be needed to be made. Some of LRG's are reported to sell 5k, others 40k, they are all over the place. The moment they announce a set amount, what's to say scalpers won't get the lion's share as theuly always do in such situations. Happens across the board, especially with LRG.

Not to mention, that puts us buyers on a demand to buy that one game each release out of sheer competition against the scalpers. Collectively saved enough on shipping alone with bundles that I can afford other stuff extra.

And your analogy falls apart when Nintendo can sell millions of Mario, and retailers will be willing to give up space to warehouse millions more. Even Nintendo's own limited print had millions in circulation. Try convincing Walmart to carry a game for 2 months to only sell 4k. That's basically why LRG even exists.

Disappointed to see Iron Meat land with Strictly Limited.

Pretty much an FPG situation over at SLG these days, as I'm still waiting for Ray'z Chronology from them for almost three years now.

Strictly Limited have gotten ridiculous about fulfilling their backlog of pre-orders.

Iron Meat however is actually physically printed and complete, ready to ship on the 25th.

It's like how Air Twister was already printed and ready to ship when they announced that one.
They only did 2000 copies for Air Twister, 500 as standard, 1500 as a collector's edition to be available later.

Oh also, you might be able to use coupon code TAITO5 for a 5€ discount, they issued it to customers of Taito pre-orders in a March newsletter.

I'm bummed to have just found out Rain World is missing both DLCs. Even the one that's already been released! What's the point? Why leave out content intentionally when you can include it? It's a much easier task than waiting for future DLC, like Dredge, which does a rerelease but collector's edition only... But you actively have to try to ignore existing content. Is it so they can rerelease it for the anniversary with the DLC??

@Hamstrman
I went ahead and added Rain World to my other LRG preorders last weekend (others were Valkyria Chronicles, Assault Suit Valken Declassified, and Castlevania Dominus, so it’ll be a great haul), but it is disappointing to hear the Rain World cart will lack that DLC. The game was several years old before this physical was announced - just add it in there! Sheesh.

And LRG just sent me the ship-out notice for Rogue Legacy 2 and Rose & Camellia today, so that was good news. It’s nice when companies follow through on time. I wish Strictly Limited could right the ship somehow. I ordered Ray’z Arcade Chronology from them on 7/31/2022, with the understanding it would ship in 6-9 months. So much for that!! At least they said the PS4 version of the game was starting to ship soon. Dare I hope the Switch versions will ship this year??

I was also pretty disappointed to hear Rain World won't have the DLC on it, and I don't understand why LRG would do that with their history of making DLC complete releases, especially for a game as old as this one. In any case, having any physical at all will be better than none at all.

LRG has been on a streak with sending out physicals these past couple months for me, it's been like a new shipment every other week now. They've made a big improvement on fulfilling orders, whereas Strictly Limited and First Press Games as you say, have been struggling.
Iron Meat shipped today though, being a print run they apparently had ready for the digital release which is pretty unusual for this sort of boutique.

Given that SLG has tried a couple of these pre-printed, limited-quantity runs now, I wonder if they move to that model now and become more like Super Rare, rather than like LRG and their open preorders. Although deliveries take forever, in general I might actually prefer the open preorder method to the low print & ready model, just because it’s so easy to miss those. Either way, I hope SLG earns enough cash now to allow them to finally fulfill some of the preorders we paid for years ago.

It’s crazy to think that the Ray’z physical game released on March 9th, 2023 in Japan, while we in the West had 2+ years of silence, then apologies from SLG. And I have Dariusburst, Dezatopia, Eschatos, and Steel Empire Chronicles all similarly stuck in SLG purgatory! It’s sad, since up till Ray’z I had several great experiences with them - I even got their deluxe set for the Egret II Mini shipped from Germany with minimal fuss. And even this year they were fine with a couple of in-stock sale items I ordered. But I won’t be trusting them with any open preorders anytime soon, if ever.

In practice, SLG never did open pre-orders as they always stated they were doing a finite run, then made you wait several months to get the games.
They were probably hoping that pre-orders would secure the capital needed to run the show and manufacture the goods, but they've apparently been struggling with that.
This isn't a situation like with First Press Games where even their standard editions all have special packaging and collectable coins, an SLG standard is just the game on its own and they've taken far too long to fulfill these basic editions.

Aside from that anyway, Red Art Games just announced they're doing a physical run of Berserk Boy, a great looking indie game I've had my eye on for a while.
http://r.news.redartgames.com/mk/mr/sh/1t6AVsd2XFnIGDWsq4S3sj...

As I recall, the game initially struggled with exposure as its Steam launch coincided with EA dropping a huge back catalogue of games, pushing it down the list of new releases, but the game got the recognition it deserved.
In any case, I put my pre-order in, and as it happens the Red Art Games discount code SWATCH10 for a 10€ discount still works! At least for me anyway, it might only work for certain countries.

Oh, now that you mention it, I misremembered! They weren't open preorders, just very early opportunities to preorder. It's just been so long since I participated in any, I forgot!

Berserk Boy does look like a fun game, and quite tempting even though I have the MegaMan X collection sitting unplayed on my shelf. I've shopped really hard this year, so I may just abstain, if my willpower holds.

A couple of late 2024 shoot em up releases in Japan are also tempting me lately - Raiden Nova (coming on 10/31) and Under Defeat (12/5) may end up being Xmas presents to myself.

With the Mega Man X Collection, it's arguably the worst way to play the SNES trilogy.
They have horrendous input delay and feel really unresponsive as a result. Pulling off special moves like hadouxens in X or shoryukens in X2 are unnecessarily difficult and unreliable as a result.
X4 and then X5 through X8 on the second collection don't have this issue however.
I have both X collections physical as the only way to get them was as Japanese imports; the second one was only available as a digital download code.

As for Mega Man X-like games, 20XX looks pretty good whilst 30XX looks great and they're both games I want to get a Switch physical release.
30XX is still getting content updates as I recall (which is typical for rogue-like structured games), so that might not happen for a while.

Oh, also regarding Berserk Boy. The physical is expected to ship Q2 2025.
I'm just thinking that by then, we might even have the Switch 2 in our hands at last, you know? Or at least know what it is and when it's coming.

Another couple of Mega Man / X-like games, I've recently picked up Super Alloy Ranger from VGP, and I've had Gravity Circuit on pre-order from Pix'n Love Publishing for ages. It's taking them longer than I'd care to fulfil the collector's edition, but this isn't unusual for them.

As far as the Lunar Remasters go, since it's coming from GungHo Online Entertainment, figure LRG are going to lock that up as they did with Grandia HD Collection.
