Quick question? Is the Switch Cartridge reader more or less prone to failure than a blu-ray or DVD disc reader in a typical modern game console? 🤔

I'm seriously interested in getting physical games for the Nintendo Switch, but have had bad luck with previous system's disc drives dying on me. 😫😓😢😭

Same. It should last a while if you get a new one, not a used or repaired.

Those are two different type of reader hardware one is laser and one is contacts. Laser gets dirty lens and moving hardware failure. Contacts is the contacts gets bent because of abuse or forcing cart to hard into the slot of or inserted the wrong way and forcing it in. I've had v1 and trade to v2 and had no issue with carts and contact reader beside popping it out at wrong time killing the game. So it's up to the user how they treat the hardware in terms of the Switch slot reader that will determine it's lifespan.
