@LegendOfPokemon it'll be more like 8, nothing like 9 or 10.
Run across board as seperate characters, no shared car, no boss battle, and no ridiculous escape from the board you're on. Less random chance/bowser communism, more gameplay choices. Gameplay shows characters buying stars to win boards instead of pure coin totals. Probably less fun for toddlers who like a randomly selected winner, but more fun for everyone else that likes these games.
Is there any reason why it's called Super Mario Party rather than Mario Party 11? Or is it just to make it seem more special/exciting than it actually is?
@Alikan
Oh, but I thought it largely is like the others?
9-10 sure are not like the other 8.
Besides, time to retire the numbering. No need to remind us how many they've been putting out (Which if you add the handheld entries is even more). SUPER implying that we're going back to what made MP great in the first place.....assuming there isnt anything hidden from us that destroys the game of course.
I wonder if it will feature some sort of download play...
That's an interesting angle. Would be interesting if they'd make download play from the DS era optional for members of the online service, perhaps with extra specific functionality for games like this.
@Angelic_Lapras_King
Well if it's more like the majority of the games in the series (even if I think the differences between 1-8 and 9-10 are a little overblown) then that would make it more average/normal and less super/special surely?
Plus if we retire the numbering, they're going to have to keep coming up with contrived subtitles for the rest of time... Ultra Mario Party, Mario Party Revelations, Mario Party Origins, etc. Hehe

Another nice solution for handheld multi-system multiplayer would be a guest app, like one of the 3DS games did.
@Yosheel sounds good too. As long as they provide a way to play that tank game with 2 switches connected with only 1 person owning the game. I can never get my only switch owning friend to buy this but for a game night it'd be sad!
@Haywired 1-8 are similar. Super is supposed to be more like them. 9-10 are totally different animals. Like comparing Risk to Axis and Allies-same planet, different rules.
....its just a buzzword. Its a good way to differentiate it and make people interested. Also, probably trying to hit that nostalgia button when 50% of all Super Nintendo games started with Super.
Awesome. I played a Super Mario kart game in an arcade in Kyoto (Round One) - Something really special about playing it in Japan. Can't wait for this release. Just make sure you guys keep your invoice in case you receive a faulty version or something. Don't get too carried away in the excitement of it all. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience. Eeeeep!
