Hello everyone! If you're like me, you loved everything about SMO... except for it's lack of true difficulty. The good news is that SMO's good old-fashioned sandbox nature makes it incredibly fun to create challenges of your own!
This is an open thread for anyone to share and enjoy each other's challenges. I will post my own bite-sized challenges daily at first; feel free to try them out! Some of these challenges may have spoilers for the post game and location of moons.
I may also include instructions for video proof in each challenge. Feel free to upload videos to prove to all of us that you've completed them!
I'd take an interest in this, but if it's "Thursday night" and you're GMT-6, I won't be able to make that. The race aspect will make it a lot harder to get this off the ground, I'm afraid.
If one has a microSD card for the Switch, one can remove it after saving video captures and upload them to YouTube (where they can be delisted to avoid spamming) or wherever else. That's a time disadvantage compared to Twitter, though.
(Also, you should probably use pastebin if you want to share text files. Mediafire's a bit of a pain.)
As Mario, collect Moon No. 1, and then make your way backwards to collect Moon No. 2, using only the platforms shown in this image (no falling and getting back up via traditional paths).
You can find this challenge by warping to the Tostarena Ruins Round Tower.
You have no idea how many dives I screwed up. I long for the day I'll be able to do them consistently.
Edit: Aaand I just realised that moving platform respawns by itself if you just wait, so I made this way harder than it needed to be. Oh well, extra points for me!
@Zyrac I had no idea that was possible! Lol. I've never figured out how to do that extra twirl.
EDIT: just learned how to do it!
Well, I've come up with twelve challenges so far, and only one of them depends on covering distance. I'll revisit that one to see if its too easy now.
Oh hey, I actually did the Sky Tower one in my review. I feel like it can be done in sub 20 seconds, but don't take my word for it as my best is 27.82.
The sand kingdom one looks really neat. They definitely put those floating blocks there so you didn't have to take the moving platform.
I'll see what I can do regarding getting these uploaded...the YouTube idea sounds nice because of delisting, but I may want to make another dummy account. I'd honestly just enjoy seeing people solve them, and solving them myself regardless of whether I ever "win". Oh I see, you've changed your first post. Well then let's all have some fun then!

@MasterWario Hey, nice review! I'd like to try speedrunning it, but I have no idea how to time it presicely. I don't have a capture card or anything.
I've been getting a lot of mileage out of rocket flower challenges lately, so I'll post one of those tomorrow. I also experimented a bit with No-A-Press in New Donk City before I realized that, because you can cappy-bounce on the ground, banning A-presses doesn't really prevent you from getting anywhere you would normally.
@Nicolai Thanks! Even with a capture card there's no easy way to tell the time. I don't have my capture card hooked up to my main PC so I can't use that speedrunning tool they all use. Alright I beat Collect the Moons - Sand Kingdom.
I also have a few challenges myself; I should probably trickle them out instead of revealing them all at once.
Climb the Round Tower
Climb the Round Tower and grab the moon without using power lines or the 2D Pipe.

For the most recent challenge, Cascade Kingdom Sprint: Darn it, why does rolling make you go so fast? That's ridiculous! I wonder if it was just because I hit a slope, or if rolling is always faster than momentum jumping...
Collect the Rocket Flowers actually took me longer though, due to the fact that the rolling shells are random, and then that one jump...
@Nicolai Yeah the overlapping thing might be tough...I'll put in one more challenge and if you've already done this one I'll wait until you've revealed most or all of yours to post the rest of mine.
It Popped Out of the Ice with a Seed - Snow Kingdom
Collect the "It Popped Out of the Ice" moon while holding the big seed
Difficulty: Easy-Medium
I guess I should post my solution after other people have had a chance to try it. So I've found a method that allows me to post pretty fast. So if we get enough people I could probably try a race/contest thing.

@MasterWario That's a new one! Actually I don't mind if you post challenges I also happened to come up with. It doesn't matter who posts what, as long as we all have fun doing them!
I'm currently working on a challenge I came up with that is sooo hard, it might take me a few days to overcome! I can't wait to post it, but there's a challenge I want to post before it that introduces the themes involved. Look forward to that on Sunday.
Nice attempts, too! I can't believe have fast you were able to roll off the waterfall! In my experience, rolling and long jumping clock in about the same, but you hit some insane speed going a little downhill just before lifting off. Using my strat, I was only able to just barely get there in time. I tried using momentum from the hill way back at the bridge.
And finally, here's my attempt at the nut challenge! That one was a bit of a puzzle, very nice!
